Default clockin turbo

bout to install a td04L off a wrx on to my 95 si, do i need to clock the turbo so the oil return is facing down or is the oil pressure great enought to push the oil out and around the turbo>?? what about just bendin the spout around and doing it that way check out the pic and let me know what i sould do

the oil return has to face down, looks like you have the oil return up and the oil feed down. clocking is easy just be sure not to break a bolt off in the exhaust side, and when you put them on tighten the bolts down evenly

yeah, you need to clock that housing 180° as it sits right now. the return HAS to be facing straight down b/c it works off of gravity, the return is not pressurized in any way, only the feed is.

as they all said clock it but make sure the bolts dont break

my buddys broke in that same turbo

Ok so what all has to be remove to clock the turbo, I remove wastegate and band holding the two together, is there any other bolts or anything else kepping it from spinning

remove the clamp holding the exhaust housing on and you'll need a huge pair of snap ring pliers for the comp housing
