Default Cleaning turbo...

How would I go about cleaning it? Bought a 14b from a guy locally. I dont suppose spraying it with water would be a good idea? A few Q's: Whats the big round thing stuck to the turbo in the pic? And there was some oil around the turbine. That bad? Im gonna try take it apart later to clean it up and check out the inside.

the big round thing is the internal wastegate... I usually just clean with solvent/brake cleaner on the outside.. I do not know about internal cleaning

Dont wanna drive to get it beaded :P Anyways I just used a old shirt and some Simple Green. Got some 800 grit sand paper and sanded it a bit as well. Pics of the exhaust housing too. I didnt bother to clean that.

Kinda crusty

Is it supposed to have that extra bolt?

curious on what size adapter is leading to that -an 4 fitting?

turbo looks good, and that is a pretty normal crack on the wastegate housing..

Take off the o2 housing and inspect the wastegate flapper section for any others.
