Well some carb cleaner will remove any heavy carbon buildup on/ in the turbo. Then if you wanted to scuff it up with a wire brush or something you could give it a quick shot of hi temp. paint to make it look all purdy.
Keep in mind that any paint you do put on will eventually just burn itself right back off again.

is it safe for any of the fluids to get into the turbo? or should i put a piece of tshirt and cover it with tape to block it off? and i wasnt planning on painting cause itll be just a waste unless i put high-temp paint
Well, you could disassemble the turbo to clean it, but that might just be a pain in the a@$. If you get any carb cleaner or whatever you use in the turbo, it will just evaporate. Or you could blow compressed air through the turbines to try and dry it up. I'm sure if your not planning on using the turbo anytime soon (like within hours), you'll be fine and the cleaners will dry.
alright thanks alot!

Well, what injectors are you going to be using with that FMU? You know you can just use your stock injectors. And what about a wastegate? You just going to stick with the internal wastegate on the turbo? And don't forget a missing link or check valves.
I sprayed mine with engine degreeser and then blated th egrease with a high presure water nozzle.Like trance said use a wire brush.I cleaned mine up with a wire brush on my drill.Take a lookhttp://www.newbieforces.com/pictures...?img=TMP54.JPG
