Default Civic Turbo... Intermittently VERY Rich

Hey everyone, running into a weird problem, looking for assistance.

Just recently boosted my JDM B18B swapped Civic. Bought an Autoworks kit, and converted to OBDI on a chipped P06. Tuned with Neptune.

Using DSM 450cc injectors, cleaned and flow tested.. wired to a resistor box.
Stock fuel rail, stock FPR, and Walbro 255lph fuel pump.

Did the install, drove the car down to the tuner (there was a basemap on the ECU) to get tuned.

Tuner calls me saying they keep running into an intermittent issue on the dyno where the car just goes lean. Anyways, they tune it anyways.. and I'm on my way.

Now, I'm having a problem.. where the car will run SUPER rich (10.0 on a wideband a/f gauge).. and bog out and almost stall..

Found out that driving with lights off.. car runs fine. Turn my headlights on, the gauge instantly goes to a 10.0 again and goes super rich and bogs down. I removed the HID's since they take a lot of power, and it seems to work.. except for today.

Driving to work today car randomly went 10.0 again and bogged down. Turned off the car and back on.. drove fine for 5 minutes.. then did it again. Turned the car off/on again.. and car drove fine all the way to work..

When the car drives fine, it still runs rich.. around 12-13 or so on the a/f gauge.

Thinking it's electrical since when I took the HID's out (they take a LOT of power to initially turn on, then like no power after)..I checked my grounds, and cleaned them up. Battery tests good, and alternator is only about a year old. Belt is tight.

I've heard get a more powerful alternator, get a FPR for the new fuel pump, etc.. but I don't want to buy new parts if I don't have to.. I should be able to run HID's with a boosted civic so it seems to me like an electrical short somehow or something..

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Tuner tells me lean on the dyno, but when the car bogs down its SUPER rich..

EDIT: I also do not have the IAT sensor hooked up. The sensor is plugged in, but it's just dangling for now since I'm waiting for a flange to put it into the chargepiping. Would that cause this issue also?

id say you should have an AFPR,that way you can turn up or down the fuel pressure

he's got 450cc injectors though. no need for afpr. His problem is intermittent...

I'd say plug in your IAT sensor first. Are you getting a CEL without it?? IAT is an integral part of controlling fuel for the ECU.

Did your car run right after the swap, before turbo?

No CEL, but when I jump the connectors I get code 20 (ELD).. which should have been disable by the tuner.. maybe thats why it doesnt throw the light on?

IAT will be in soon, just got a flange from Xenocron.. just gotta get it welded in.

Bump for this. I should have mentioned... I had an IAT sensor, it was just dangling. Now it's actually IN the chargepipe and this is still occuring. I noticed that it only happens when the subwoofer in my car has power. When it doesn't.. car runs fine. And for some reason the subwoofer randomly goes in and out of power... any ideas?

It sounds like an electrical issue. Check all of your connections (especially at the ecu and fuse panel).

Could it have anything to do with the OBD-2/1 conversion harness? It was a cheap eBay harness.. but I figured wires are wires... I checked it out and it looks fine. I did some hacking of wires down by the ECU because I've done an auto/manual swap, a vtec swap, and had to do a CKF bypass trick on it when I first dropped the B18 in (because it is JDM and I'm using a USDM ECU).

Could the injector wiring have anything to do with this? Or could my alternator happen to already somehow not be as strong as it should be? I double checked my grounds too and they all look fine. Right now I'm just running with no subwoofer and it seems to run fine, but I miss the sub, lol (JL Audio W3). I never crank it because ---- rattles, but I like a little bass with my music.

Any other suggestions on things to try? Ug!

deff sounds like an electrical problem mate. I dont know if alot of people would agree with me, but try using a voltage stabilizer to see if that makes a difference.

I dont think its your alternator, i think its dropping voltage somewhere causing your richness...
