Chevy Cavalier, home made turbo style. PICS, danger for 56k
Well i just finished my turboing my ecotec, 2004 cavalier. i know there aren't many doomestics(street chronicles style) on here, but its turboed. the wastegate is set at 8 psi. i don't have the luxury of a chipped ecu so i am running a greddy e-manage. here are some pics.
Whole car, that pvc piece is temporary. http://img82.echo.cx/img82/4488/car2vy.jpg Ecotec at its finest http://img82.echo.cx/img82/6619/engine7ml.jpg Garrett turbo, the turbine is a t3 for sure, anyone know if that compressor is a t4? not sure http://img82.echo.cx/img82/9872/turboon2oq.jpg wdwalker trys to pass my plx m-300 wideband off as his, no hard feelings wes http://img82.echo.cx/img82/7753/gauges2rk.jpg RX-7 intercooler, want to get a nicer front mount http://img82.echo.cx/img82/152/intercooler0fs.jpg hidden blow off valve http://img177.echo.cx/img177/9459/bov4nc.jpg e-manage http://img82.echo.cx/img82/2271/emanage1vq.jpg |

Very nice man. We (NE crew) should be turbocharging a 98 Cavy sometime soon. When is that install anyway? This month? :-\

What are people making powerwise on the stock 2.2 ecotec? The bottom end isn't built like the 2.0 is it? O0

Re: Chevy Cavalier, home made turbo style. PICS, danger for 56k
looking good, hurry up and get to the dyno. O0

Re: Chevy Cavalier, home made turbo style. PICS, danger for 56k
I don't think the 2.2 is built like the 2.0. with the 2.2's, most people are making around ~210whp and ~230 wtq

Re: Chevy Cavalier, home made turbo style. PICS, danger for 56k
there is a place on the head that is pre tapped for oil feed. I just took out the plug and put in a fitting.

What? All turbo's have an exhaust flange, this being a T3 flange. Not the turbine or compressor type? All turbos have a turbine and a compressor. Looks like a straight T3 to me, the compressor doesn't look large enough to be a T4. Nice setup ;) |

Nice setup ;) i was bout to say the same ----, you can have any compressor side and exhaust side, there's a t2 compressor, t3, t4, t66, 60-1... dont ever make a comment like that with only 30 post. |
Re: Chevy Cavalier, home made turbo style. PICS, danger for 56k
yeah, what is the compressor outlet diameter on a t4 compressor? the boosted ecotec is really smooth and feels nice. the e-manage wasn't too hard to program, just make sure you get a map sensor that can read boost, i am getting an srt-4 one, got it for like 15 bucks. i'm pretty sure most honda map sensors can read boost.
