Default Cheap Turbo Build

Im just going to start off by saying i dont have the money for name brand(PERIOD.)
I did a little bit of research on Ebay turbos. I found out that the Gt35 t70 is the best turbo on ebay.
GODSPEED GT35 .63 trim TURBO big shaft 500hp B16 B18 EG - eBay (item 160543613749 end time Feb-15-11 16:570 PST)
I just have a few questions about my build. First off just so you know and can get an idea of what im putting this on: I have a 1993 Acura Integra LS b18a1 "Stock".
So the gt35 t70 turbo, im curious about the 4bolt flange. Can i just get a regular 5 bolt and drill a hole in it and the gasket and mount that on my turbo?
IF not, do i need to fabricate something that will fit this?

Another thing is the Intercooler im going to get:
What is the best way to mount this intercooler?

Also the oil line from the oil tub to the turbo, where should i mount the line on the oil tub?

Here is my parts list:
Oil, vacuum lines: Complete turbo oil line kit -t3/t4 GT35 turbo charger - eBay (item 130486592420 end time Feb-23-11 20:27:51 PST)

I will get injecters and fuel pump later "name brand", Same with the p28 chip.

Will all of these work together? i didnt just choose random ----, i tried to find stuff that will work with each other.

Thanks~ Etzim

Injectors and either chip/tune cannot wait. Trying to run all that with a stock fuel system is a great way to blow the everloving hell out of your motor.

Sounds like you need to do some reasearch, if you just throw that stuff on your car with no type of fuel management or tuning don't expect your motor to last more than a day or two.

CHEAP-
FAST-
RELIABLE-

PICK ANY TWO

Ok my first thoughts are OMG! You are driving a 93 integra with how many miles on it??
I tend to think that you may want to run down to where ever is cheap to buy used engines and build most of the hard parts on a stand, this is what I do and it works very well. Your car/engine probably has 200k on it or so by now and it's just not going to put up with this.
The next problem is going to be the clutch it won't put up with this either, it looks like you want to make 3-400hp with that turbo you selected, even if it was a brand new clutch it wasn't designed for that much power.
Ok I can't find a pic of the manifold you want to use but as long as it's cast iron it should be just fine for a street application. The reason I mention this is that I can't see if it has a provision for a external waste gate. The 4 bolt down pipe flange is NOT a problem, there are all sorts of 4 bolt gt style flanges on e-bay on the cheap, failing that I'm willing to bet someone sells a downpipe for exactly your application and being Honda crap it'll be cheap too. The five bolt plate that you're talking about is for ford style waste gates which you don't have.
The oil return question is fairly general to most cars, as long as you have a deep style of oil pan you can drill a hole in the pan above the oil line and as straight down from the turbo as possible, if the oil line is above the pan then you have to drill a hole in the block and mount the return there, most of this stuff is found in "Maximum Boost". Make sure there's no tortured return paths for the oil or you'll toast up your turbo seals and then bearings same for a return line under the full oil line. Remember the part further up about doing this all on an engine stand... It makes this sooo much easier.
Now as far as injectors, fuel pump and management are concerned.... Well not to flog a dead horse or anything but these should be one of your first purchases.

If I can give you some OG advice here for a sec. I've been here done this blown all my ---- up and spent twice as much as I needed to, while I think this may be a right of automotive passage I do try to steer guys/girls away from wasting their money.
First off you need to have a goal here, if you have no number that you want to reach than you're going at this blind, you also need to keep this realistic... do a reality check...NOW! If you think that you're going to turn your car into a 400hp monster on the cheap you also have to ask "do I mind taking the bus to work or anywhere else until I can fix my car... again" or do I mind walking... a lot? You will be breaking stuff on an amazingly frequent basis. Next can you afford to feed this beast a diet of high octane fuel every time? I made one screw up about 6 years ago with the VW I built, I put in 91 instead of 94, I made it 18km before I stuck my foot into it and melted the #3 piston toasting the bottom end.
Everything in your drive line has to be up to the task or it's back on the bus with you.

So just my input here and take it for what it's worth but don't buy the china charger, I know it seems like a good deal but I tend to think for a daily driven street car that has to start every time you should look at a rebuilt garrett t3 off of some '80s car. I bought a t3 60trim .60 ar cold with .63ar hot rebuilt off of an '84 300zx last month for $175 shipped from turbocity (e-bay). This turbo should be good for about 280hp but when I get bored I can turn it int a t3/t4 fairly cheap and then it will flow to about 400hp. This is just an example but one worth considering. My rebuilt garrett will more than likely still be working long after your china charger has crapped out. The other thing to consider is power delivery sure that giant *** turbo will make huge power but light to light my more or less stock "ser spec v" would eat you as you're going to be waiting for that turbo to do something... only to have massive traction problems when it does.

So if I were you, my list would look like this... Chip... injectors (rc engineering has a great injector calculator) then you can do more research and find out what applications came factory with big injectors rx7 turbos for example, you may be able to get some of these at the bone yard, just be sure to get them cleaned and flowed... Fuel pump, now if you're on the cheap the pump I would buy would come from the wreckers being off of a CIS or CIS-E injected VW also known as Bosch K jetronic or KE jetronic injection, you WILL need an adjustable FPR with this pump as it will pump at 90-100 psi, you'll probably want to be running around 43.5 psi on your rail. If you get it at a pick a part on sale it will also be about $15. This pump is external so you can mount it almost anywhere I would take a close look at the fuel filter on the VW and compare it to what you have as you don't want your filter to blow up (messy and a bit of a fire hazard) , I'm not sure about the filters on Hondas as I don't work on them. This pump will flow more than you'll ever need.
Now buy your manifold pretty much whatever you want but buy a cast one for the street. Buy a rebuilt quality turbo and set it for five or six psi of boost, get your car running and don't bother with the intercooler until you have everything else working properly, then buy the FMIC and piping and then turn up your boost. I think you'll be really happy with taking this in steps, even on low boost it will completely transform your car pretty much any garrett turbo off of a saab or a 280zx turbo or a 300zx turbo, ford t-bird, mustang svo... you get the idea will work just fine, volvo turbos are more or less the same but have a slightly goofy flange on them that will need an adapter to make work properly.
Don't get frustrated, if you want to do this cheap than you're going to be finding yourself doing things two and three times over because of money constraints and like I said before you're going to be breaking stuff... it's just part of the game.

Cheers,

Ted
