Default Changing exhaust side

Does anybody know if changing the exhaust side from lets say .48 to .58 or .63 will this make the turbo better or will it just create more lag? The reason i'm asking is because I got a T3 turbo but the flang is weird and does not match my header. So i was thinking of changing the exhaust side from my other turbo to this one.

Thanks for the help.

the larger the exhaust side.. .43 -> .68 is going to change when the turbo spools up, and tops out.

on a smaller engine, yes this is going to increase lag, but it's also going to allow you to make more power at the higher revs.
