Default Cast welding question

I know when we did Jeff/AbaZ's hatch he tigged a stainless elbow to the HF for the Audi gate.

Question I have, is can I mig it. If so, should I get the elbow in mild steel and mig that to it, or should I stay stainless?

If I can't mig it, I can try to get access to someone who can tig it for me.

Mig it for sure.. that was time we have ever tig'd straight cast iron (SS to CAST-steel) the turbo exhaust housing was Cast steel, so no biggy there.

make sure the elbow is pretty thick material, ya regular mild steel is fine.

Your more than welcome to practicing on my tig at the next meet if you like.

ehh, ive welded up a few cast iron engine blocks before and if you weld for to long itll crack.. best bet is to heat it up to about 300 degrees and tig or mig weld it. That way your waistgate wont fall off, lol. If its on somethin smaller and not much heat bein done it may not matter, but a nice crack doesnt do good for performance.
