Actually, I have a friend with an eclipse GST that had the same problem, Apex-i SAFC somehow just messed up, was blowing fuses and stuff, and wouldn't turn the motor over, as soon as we disconnected it at our shop the car started right up.....so you could always try temporarily unplugging it...motor won't blow if you don't rag on it
=)

so is the AFC even coming on? once youve made sure the internal connector is OK and no wire separation goin on, make sure you screw the thing back together real tight also, because mine worked itself loose, and the 4 outside screws hold the halves together and this pressure also holds the connector that joins the two daughterboards together inside the AFC, and would make the damn car die because the AFC was momentarily shutting off. good luck with it

Thanks for the help guys. I'm going to connect the stock injectors back up tommorow and disconnect the AFC unless I can find something better to do. As for does it come on or not, it's kinda wierd. I was checking all the connections and all and they were fine. Before I plugged the ecu back in I turned the key just to see if it would cut on. Well the buttons lit up but it didnt come on. So I prceed to plug the ECU in and the AFC lights stay on until I plug in the small connector in the ECU (the one on the right if your looking at it from the front). I unplugged the connector and the AFC button lights come on again. So i just said ---- it and plugged the ECu back in (again the button lights cut off). Well if anyone can help before I take it out I would appreciate it. Oh yeah, when I had the AFC apart the connectors to the screen looked to be tarnished brown (dont no if thats a problem or not) Any help would be appreciated.

oOooooOh, tarnished brown is not good, could have been the marks of a short. Or it could just be shotty factory soldering hehe. are any other connectors that color?

Hope your ECU isn't fried either ???

There could have been a short.
I hope not for your sake.
If the screen doesn't come on and the connectors are brownish well i think you fried the screen.

Fuggit I think it's just fried. Well I just bought the limited edition black SAFC 2 today to replace it. Oh yeah heres a very important question. Is it possible for the SAFC to fry the ECU? The guy at apexi said that it couldnt and I dont really see how it could but it's still got me a little worried.

b4 u plug in your new afc do yourself a favour and put a fuse on the 12v switched wire ok? and cheeck your ecu conneections if you didnt, something is loose and shorting it out, thats why you keep blowin ecu fuses, just be thankful those fuses are saving your ecu

ok well I tried to install this new SAFC 2 I just bought and I got all the wires straight and everything and guess what. IT STILL DIDNT CUT ON!!! I'm thinking that even if my ecu could have gotten fucked up the AFC would still power up because it's hooked to a power wire that goes into the ECU. Isn't this right? Should I be tracking down power wires instead of messing with the ECU? I'm really thinking that the AFC would at least cut on no matter if the ECU is broken or not. You think that the car and everything won't start because the power wire going into the ecu is messed up? If this is the case, where does the power wire from the ecu go so I can track it down?

Well here is the update. I hooked up the afc and it cuts on and everything when the ecu isnt hooked up but once I plug in the ecu the afc cuts off when I put the 3rd connector in (THE SMALL ONE) So is my ecu just fucked up now? It's definetly not the AFC because the brand new one I just bought doesnt work qwhen I have the ecu plugged in. Its confusing the hell out of me why the afc works when the ecu isnt plugged in but once I plug it in it just cuts off. Somebody help me out on this one I have run out of ideas besides my ecu is fucked.
