my intercooler piping that is connected to the turbo seems to have an oily touch to it. it was so oily that the hose connecting to the intercooler pipe even manage to slip off.

Does it mean that my turbo is leaking oil? I have checked the blade and shaft and there isn't any oil. No shaft play too.

BTW, I'm not running any oil catch can thou.

are you using an oil restrictor on the turbo? if you are and it is smoking, then the turbo is bad. if you arent using one, get one on there quick before you ruin the turbo

i would hope that the shop I took my car to install the turbo kit did use an oil restrictor. Also, will a oil return line (to the oil pan) that looks too long cause white smoke too?

I'm getting a replacement turbo but I don't wish to waste my money knowing that it isn't a turbo fault but an installation fault.

I just hate dodgy mechs!

if it was a new turbo kit, it probably came with a restrictor. if you want tpost a pic where the oil feed line goes into the turbo, i can tell you if there is one or not.

the oil line being too long isnt really an issue, as long as its not kinked. post a pic of that too

Hi all,

thanks for all your valuable feedback. I think (FINGERS CROSSED) i managed to stop the smoking problem.. I really do hope so although I didn't drive the car around yet. Only started it up, rev it alittle with no white smoke. What i did was I shorten the oil feed and return line and made sure it was a straight line instead of a kinked line.

But i have one concern. I notice that my oil return is very close to my turbo down pipe and I fear that the heat from the down pipe might melt the oil return line. I did wrap my down pipe with some thermal wrap to reduce the heat but should it be enough? the space between the oil return line and the down pipe is about 1 finger spacing. Oh and im using those normal rubber oil lines, not the metal type lines.

Please do advise.

keep an eye on it. if its an oil line and not just heater hose, it should be fine but i would watch it for a week or so

You've answered your own question here; what you've done with the wrap should be considered a temporary fix until you can purchase a steel braided return line. Why chance it and possibly create a huge mess when you can resolve this and forget about it.... steel lines can be found fairly cheap on tuner toys or ebay..... do it ONCE do it RIGHT. good luck

hi guys, another problem here..

I just got a new 2.5 bar map sensor and after installing the new map sensor, car won't start. It can crank but it won't start. Revert back to the stock map sensor, car started like a gem.

What could the problem be? Must I do anything special when replacing a map sensor or is the new map sensor not working?

please do advise.
