Default Can you lower an internal wastegate actuator's set PSI? Yes, yes you can!

So I got fucked on my ching chong internally gated turbo. It was supposed to be an 8 psi wastegate. It wasn't. I threw a gauge on it and it was more like 13-14 psi. So what to do? I cut the bottom off the chamber where the spring was. I cut a coil out and tigged that ---- back together. Bam. 8-9 fully extended on the flapper. No leaks.

So yes, yes you can lower the psi of an internal wastegate actuator.

---- you China. Good day.

Lol I got a junk GT15 with a slightly leaking WG actuator, I pulled it apart to do something else with it, so I know its not that hard & can be done.

I can't recall, maybe it was the Volvo guys who were doing this. They were chopping and adding springs to save money rather than buying a weaker actuator, or getting a MBC.

I wonder if this will work with my holset. ------- extending the arm to the max = 30psi.
Detached arm and "open" wastegate = 25psi.
****** needs some porting.

yes you do.. you have a target,, so why aim high.

you can add a spring pulling the arm the other way,, affix it to a point that makes it easyier to move the wastegate arm.. I use 2 attach points .. one hold steady ad 5psi, the other at 8psi, remove the spring you get 13 psi..

No way wa I going to spend $90 to lower my boost level with a new wastegate.. I dont like adjusting the push rod because it limits the funtionality of the wastegate.. This method works just as though you had opened it up and replaced the spring..
