listen for knocking or pinging. You timing may be too advanced and/or you are running too lean.

Reminds me of my r/c cars, haha, they would ping, I guess that was bad huh :P

its amazing, I typed in "What is detonation" in yahoo, and like 6000000 pages came up

Those are little bit more than a "breif" explaination though.

What does it sound like?.. sounds like a bunch of bb's in a pop can shaking around. Your more likly to hear this when there is a heavy load on the engine like in 3rd or 4th gear.

Tip in detonation would be the same thing as normal detonation , only I'm guessing it's during the tip in to boost, when you havn't started adding enough fuel in yet.
