can i rev a stock ls to 7500k with no problem
A friend told me that i can rev my engine up to 7500 on a turbo setup. is he messin wit me or is he correct. Im running between 8-10 psi. stock B18B1. using uberdata. b/c right know im redline at 7000 fuel cutoff and 6800 resume.
|
Re:can i rev a stock ls to 7500k with no problem
i wouldent go over the fuel cutoff of the motor unless you REALLY know what your doing.
|
Re:can i rev a stock ls to 7500k with no problem
right now my ecu is tuned to 6800 fuel resume and 7000 fuel cut off. which is stock redline.
My friend said i can set the ecu at 7500 fuel cut off.7400 resume and rev it all the way up there, does anyone know if I would be safe doing that, while boosting. b/c i may do that if its safe for daily driven. All done by using Uberdata. |
Re:can i rev a stock ls to 7500k with no problem
LS's dont have a very good rod to stroke ratio so they dont take to higher revs well, you can rev it that high but it wouldnt last long
|
Re:can i rev a stock ls to 7500k with no problem
dont do it ;)
|
Re:can i rev a stock ls to 7500k with no problem
I dont know that I would go over 6800. how much more power are you gonna get out of a next to redline rev? its only 400 rpms... :-\
dont do it. |
Re:can i rev a stock ls to 7500k with no problem
most of you dont know what you are talking about.. just wait FRANKLIN until someone who knows what the ---- they are talking about.
The rod stroke ratio on an ls is 1.54 GSR is 1.58 thats VERY minuet b16 is (just as a referance) 1.74 People rev STOCK BLOCKS (ls) to over 8500 rpms all day long. the head is good for around 7800. When you get retards on here just repeating "the rod stroke ratio is not good" then they dont know what the ---- they are talking about. Rev that peice of ---- to 7500 and get it over with. its not going to blow up. how many ls/vtecs you see me blow up? none, exactly, how high do i rev my stock block ls's to? 8700 rev limit and i bounce of it all the time, my dads rev limit on his ls/vtec is 9500... its time to pack some balls. and stop listening to the people that dont know ---- about rod stroke ratios,.. TurboHF (dustin) is reving his stock blocked ls to 8400 no prolbems, ABAZ (Jeff) was reving his ls/vtec to 8400 stock block and that block is sitting in my garage at this moment, perfect condition. Stock rev limit on an ls is like 7200.. another 300 isnt going to matter.. BTW my bro is laughing at you shifting at 6500 because your afraid to blow you engine.. some good ----. |
Re:can i rev a stock ls to 7500k with no problem
So the question is not will it blow up at 7500rpm, but will it make any power past 7k rpm?

maybe aftermarket cams will help or a vtec head |
Re:can i rev a stock ls to 7500k with no problem
i WAS reving my stock D16Z6 :P to 8000
then i got cam and valve spring and reved it to 8500 |

Re:can i rev a stock ls to 7500k with no problem
---- i rev my d16z6 to 7500 all day long even bounce off the rev limit... and on my turbo ls.. its not a question if it could rev that high its just that they make no power up top...
|
Re:can i rev a stock ls to 7500k with no problem
well i wouldnt rev it to 7,500 on stock valve springs i noticed a little valve float in my motor but it also has 120,000 miles. ---- it... i admit. i do it all the time hahaha its not how much you can rev your motor its how much cash you got when it blows

lol.. do you know what valve float sounds like? your probably NA and hearing inoffieceny (sp) they dont even come close to floating until around 78-8... ls do not blow at 7500. |
Re:can i rev a stock ls to 7500k with no problem
I watched Johnny (random-strike) and Dustin (turbohf) on the dyno with their b18a (LS) engines and right at 5,000 rpms the power dropped like a rock. I'm not sure if the b18b1 engines are any different, maybe it was just the older LS motors, but I see no reason to rev that high on a stock motor if your not making power up there.
I rev my stock Z6 to 7,000 rpms (fuel cut at 7300) even though Josh (Turbo90Accord4DR) and Bill (chevy) say I am a ----- because I don't rev higher haha. I just don't see a reason to rev higher when I am not making anymore power. I guess by revving a little higher, when I shift my rpms won't drop as much and be closer to my powerband, but shifting at 7k is working well for me. I figure it's a little easier on my motor anyways. :-\ Now if I ever had an LS block, the first thing I would do is slap a vtec head on it. If you build it properly you should have no problems revving the LS block high, just like Josh said, he, Jeff, and Dustin all rev the ---- out of their ls/vtec motors. |
Re:can i rev a stock ls to 7500k with no problem
my d15b2 was at 7400 and it loved it.

92 hp @ 6000 rpms 89 tq @ 4500 rpms Redline: 6800 rpms I see no reason to rev a stock d15b2 to 7400 rpms... ??? Can anybody explain why you would want to? |
Re:can i rev a stock ls to 7500k with no problem
cause i have my te set at 7400 for the new motor and im running the b2 with that right now if i cared at all about this motor then i wouldnt be doing it
|
Re:can i rev a stock ls to 7500k with no problem
I used to rev my B2 to 7400 to...
Well i did an MPFI swap on it and cheanged the cam...so the specs don't count for it anymore and it was also boosted later. |
Re:can i rev a stock ls to 7500k with no problem
Someone said this, its not a question of whether it will blow up, its a question of whether it makes power. All of the LS Vtecs quoted were LS VTECs and had vtec heads that made power to 8500. Stock LS cams can't be making power to 7500, so whats the point??
|
Re:can i rev a stock ls to 7500k with no problem
But wat about on an ls. the turbo kicks in even harder on higher RPMS, tires start lighting up. i plan on keeping this motor for a while. if i wanna keep it then i shouldn't go to 7500 when racing? right? i plan on building it up when i get more money.
stay at 6800 redline or go to 7500 rpm redline? |

stay at 6800 redline or go to 7500 rpm redline? Your turbo is big enought to where it pulls all the way up to 7500... as where most people didint have a big enough one ( johnny for example) |
Re:can i rev a stock ls to 7500k with no problem
if the benifits of revving to 7500 were greater than the costs...
dont u think honda would have made it rev to 7500??? after all, they are the smartest car maker in the world.... ;D |
Re:can i rev a stock ls to 7500k with no problem
ohh damn i forgot all you guys live right next door to me and know my car is n/a... i was just giving my input of what i have encountered with my car no need to be an ass

Re:can i rev a stock ls to 7500k with no problem
Every turbo ls dyno I have seen (stock) has always looked about the same (already mentioned above) The power really drops on the LS's. About 5500 the power falls and the torque falls as well. So there really is no need to rape the ---- out of a LS. It's all in the head, that head is a big peice of ----, the cams/valvetrain are all weak.
Example, lets say johnny kept his exact same turbo setup, and just swapped on a Vtec head, his power band would be very smooth and probably pull all the way to 8000. As far as spinning ls/cr vtec's to 8500.. Nothing wrong with that 8) |
Re:can i rev a stock ls to 7500k with no problem
Johnny had the B18A1 and the B18B1 is different. My cousin just swapped b18b cam shafts into his b18A and now it revs harder on higher rpms. his tires now light up as he accelerates higher. because bfore da turbo, my motor pulled harder on higher rpms also.

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHA dude, so many people rev the ---- out of them, and one dude finaly posts and you like WHAT REALLY STOCK WHAT MILAGE??@??!!? why would gas milage matter? gas milage is only part throttle, if you dont beat your car, you get better milage. |
