i love how everyones inability to tune, turns in to "the d15 is ----"

someone mentioned he blew up a piston, and broke rings. thats because you cant tune, and had nothing to do with the engine itself, the pistons and rings are the same meterial as the d16.
the main and rod journals are smaller. i believe the mains are 45mm instead of 55, and the rod journals are like 3mm smaller.
again, the crank is not a weak spot. find me a d15 where the crank broke before the stock rods. hell if this is the case, people better start throwing out their JDM d15b's, becasue they are crap.
the weak point is the rods. but they should be fine up to 180 whp or so. with a decent tune.

i have been beating the living ---- out of my d15/y8 mini me for the last month or so, trying to break it.
last compression test from 2 days ago
198 205 205 205
8psi daily

maybe i got the only d15 honda made that didnt suck...

bump for some more replies!!!!

now im considering maybe just boosting the straight up 1.5 motor to get a good handle of the tuning a bit, and get all my ---- fabbed up nicely, and while im running that motor look for a 1.6 soch vtec for a good price......

its all about tuning and boosting an engine in good conditions.

i fully belive in tuning .. i will most def. take a trip to the dyno..... it should take long to tune a simple litle setup like this should it??? maybe 5 pulls??? what to u guys think .... im not gonna sit there and fight for power, just setup so i run safe....

to answer your question, a spun bearing could mean all sorts of things.

The lightest would be hearing a knock from your motor. The heaviest would be throwing a rod out the side of the block.

Re:Building a 1.5L Mini Me Turbo!!!! ....bring your wisdon and experiece in here

thank you!, and we are talking about the main bearings???? im sorry to burden you all with questions ... but im trying to lean more ...

so does this term just refer to a bearing that is worn, causeing the crank to not be stable???? or does the bearing actualy move out of place????

it's cool man, you gotta learn sometime.

Different motors use different parts but in general they are all the same concept of flow. This is what a typical bearing looks like:

but I think you're thinking of something more along the lines of this:

Those things get wear with milage, and after a while they can break apart.. cause a knock or as bad as a thrown rod if not treated or abused

cool! thanks for the info, so the bearings in the bottom picture are like honda bearings right????

how to you install/ remove them???? do they kinda just sit on the crank jurnals or to u have to fasten them somehow??? are the hard to remove and install???
