Bout to start my car up. Fucking scarred.
Just got done with my dp and the kit is all on and ready to go. Im scarred as ---- to see if its going to start. Is there anything i should do before i start a car thats never been ran with a kit on it before? Oh yea, ill throw some pics up tonight. heres my setup
z6 swap in 90 si hatch fully converted to obd1 t3 .42/.48 with oil restricter 2.5 ic piping 2.5 mandrel bent fluxcore madness open downpipe with o2 bung and ---- No dumptube yet stealthmode oil lines dsm bov boost gauge ssac wg oh yea, can you run the wg and bov to the same exact vacum source? My plugs are gapped at .032 that cool till i go for a tune> And i have a chipped p06 converted to a p28 with a 9psi basemap and my car will be 5psi before i get her tuned and some more i cant think of |

take out your fuse to the ecu and crank your car a few time so theres oil pressure in your turbo

---- that fuse ---- unless the turbo is brank spanking new.
just make sure your fluids are good and start her up and just check the engine bay for any leaks and be ready to shut it off. nothing to worry about. if it runs shitty at all dont beat on it might be something serious like an injector or something along the lines of having your ---- die. but if it starts up and idles fine your good to go. post some pics!!!!!!! |

Few suggestions..
Leave oil restrictor wide open at first close it as necesary i would pull the ecu fuse to prime the turbo...takes 2 minutes have an extra set of plugs lying around...can never have too many extra plugs Double check vac lines and make sure couplers are properly tightened MAke sure bolts to connect turbo, dp, mani are tight |

buy a tial wastegate when you can afford it, unless SSAC has come a long way, it'll just bite you in the ass in a matter of time. Remember noob, tuning is everything! But so far good job.

Make shure theres no oil leaks .. chek back of the block where you tapped in to get the oil from
chek the oil drain also just to be shure .. and as already mentioned just check all the fluid levels |

you dont do it while they are spinning, you do it before you start it. and dont rev the engine like a moron.

Oh man its not that big of a deal. I have done it with two cars and two separate turbos. The ecu thing is fine too I guess. dang gon scarred little nig nag. :o

NOT neeeeeeded. It's like what, 80psi of oil on start-up? Yeap, prime it, cuz it's sure to screw up your turbo annnnnnnnd if you really want to do it, just turn the key to "ON" and I'm like 79% syre oil squirts just like the injectors do.

Okay, David told me to just start it because start-up oil psi is high enough to throw enough oil in there. That's point one, next take of your feed line and turn the key to "ON" it squirts oil to prime. I remember doing it now into a coffee can. JP |

W0rd. It's fine like I said to, it'll be oiled in .3 seconds anyway. If you have a man's turbo it won't spin at idle anyway. I should post the vid of me at the dyno and my Dad holding the charge pipe of the turbo on so it wouldn't blow off during some pulls. Got forearm burns and went back to it with some shop rags in his hand and some courage. Love my Dad. JP |

Samson, I was referring to the fact that you think you have "oil pressure squirting" when you turn your key to the on position. The oil pump is mechanical, fuel pump electric.

i never primed my turbo but they were always used ---- anyways i do like to take my oil drain off and make sure oil comes out

If you hold the compressor wheel it will not spin... unless of course you rev the ---- out of your motor. That is all you need to do. |

Right, sorry. We had like plug wires pulled or something and turned it over.

my god just unplug the damn ecu fuse, and if you wanna be really safe, pop off the return line, and crank it til oil comes out, you can check for leaks in the feed line too at this point. just don't crank for more than around 10 secs at a time.
holding the blades obviously will work too...but pulling a fuse is pretty damn easy. |

im gonna go over all the grounds, tighten all my couplers up and prime the turbo by unplugging my ecu. Im going to get it tuned next week. i will start her tommarow. pic in a bit.

yea its just its taken me so long to get this kit together with work school gf etc. that now that its all on i cant believe it. I work tonight so i can start it up tonight. ill start it tommarow. ill have a vid or 2 also

priming the turbo is good practice but since the turbo will spin either not at all or very slowly on startup, turbo won'T have time to starve foir oil at all. it will really not take long for the oil to get in there. You don'T even have to worry about holding the shaft. BUt, you can still be worried about your restrictor begin plugged. that happens. Often. The hole is so small. So I usually crank the car with the feed liine in a can to see if any oil comes out of it. If it does, then you plug it to the turbo and you're ready to go, knowing that the turbo will not suffer from oil starvation. |
