Default borg warner K24

New guy!

As you will see i am asking something out of the ordinary but i know its got to be possible! Im not a turbo guru so i may misuse some terms or have some things confused.

Iv got a 2002 porsche 911 TT. it comes from factory with what are called KKK16s part number KN53169706726/27 from borg warner. however the 911 GT2 which is also a TT comes with borg warner KKK K24 turbos part numbers 53249887005 (996.123.983.71) and 53249887006 (996.123.984.71) What a lot of the porsche guys are doing is taking these K24 turbos and upgrading with an 18G turbine upgraded with a Hybrid Mitsubishi 18G compressor wheel and 1bar waste gate actuators . These are 40lb compressor wheels vs. the stock 30lb wheel. the upgrade to 24k/18g is about $12-1500. the stock K24 turbos are about $3000. i need the K24 core.

what i want to know is if there is any way to "build" or buy used the stock K24 and save on the $3000 tag. if you google K24 turbos, u can find em pretty cheap like 3-$500 each. the problem is fitment. with my lack of expertise, i have NO Idea about the flange style for the porsche. the link below shows the 24/18 turbo from all angles and maybe you can guess. I think....the ones i see on google have the wrong flange (T4) but.....there are readily availible headers that bolt to the garret T4 flange, so that may be a way around it. bottom line is i need a used KKK 24 core for rebuild and upgrade! sorry if this all seems convoluted!!
