Default boosting problems

hey guys... i've been boosting for about a week and a half and now some problems have occured. car was boosting fine 2 days ago, and now it's making a wierd whirrring noise when the turbo starts to spool. the car only boosts 2 psi now for some reason. i checked for leaks and found nothing. i found a bolt that mounts the turbo to my manifold got loose somehow... but i fixed that last night. i thought i had solved the problem, but it's still there. someone please help. i don't think it would be the turbo since i bought it brand new.

Your turbo might just be surging. Mine sometimes does it in first due to the lack of flowage<-------my own term. Check out the post at the top of the forced induction forum about reading compressor maps and it explains it briefly somewhere in there. Look around for something that has to do with your surge limit.

if i am surging... is there any way to keep the turbo away from the surge area... i don't want to damage my turbo... i was reading the "how to read a compressor map" and i do hear that snake like hiss... i've had that noise ever since i had the turbo installed... unless that's just the sound of the turbo spooling... but after reading that forum i think it's compressor surge. you say it only happens in first gear, but i only hit 2 psi in every gear. i don't know what the hell is happening

dont think there is any way to fix the compressor surge ... I know they make systems that are designed to spool your turbo faster but those are way out of my range of understanding. As far as boosting 2 psi, you have a leak somewhere. Check all connectors and your intercooler(If you have one). Hell use the old soap and water trick. Usually when connectors are new they tend to loosen up a few times bofore they get really heated. Good luck

i had the EXACT SAME problem only i hit 5 psi instead of 2...anyways, make sure that your wastegate arm isn't hitting anything...mine was and ever since i bent the arm to clear what it was hitting I have been happily boosting.

I am not boosting yet ,and I'm new to turbos but i've researched enough guess that your turbo is surging due to a lack of propper wastegate flow.If this is your problem you might have to get an external wastegate. That would deffenitly fix your problem.

Are you hearing a slide whistle noise?
Noticing any oil leaks or smoking? Vile smells under the hood after running for a while?>

is that an external waste gate? check the hoses on it?

also check all charge pipes for leaks.
