Boosting a 93 DX Motor
ive been having a hell of a time trying to find a Sohc vtec motor (in good conditition at least) here in philly, my cousins next door shop (known them for a while) is selling me a 93 dx motor with 34k!!! miles original papers, this motor is clean as hell i could eat of this thing, for 300 dollars. everything included, warranty, they would even install it in my 91 crx si.. my question is... would it be wise to buy this, install it and boost it or just wait out for a sohc vtec and then save my pennies again for boost?
would these motors perform good at 8psi or so. im only looking to hit high 13's in my car. |

Re:Boosting a 93 DX Motor
whats in your car right now?
We boosted a D15b2 at the track pretty hard.. 11psi, and could only hit 14.0 (but that was with a shitty ass clutch) Jeff |
Re:Boosting a 93 DX Motor
A friend of mine boosts a non vtec d16 with a big 16g at 10psi and put down 193hp/197tq, running a 13.5 at the track on street tires with a shitty 2.5 60'. The car has been up and running for more than a year now.(its for sale now) The 1.5 shouldnt be too far away?

Re:Boosting a 93 DX Motor
blah wtf.
the motor has 36G miles. 300 bucks and a free install. how can u say no to this. the ------- sohc vtec has what a whopping 24 more hp and 5lbs of torque. thats nothing that a nice t3.t4 can't help with. you boost it 2 psi higher maybe 3 bang there u go, sohc vtec. ive seen sohc motors get sprayed with 125 shots and break axles before motors blow. sirex can vouch for that. sohc vtec motors imo eat dick. i think all sohc motors eat dick. ---- dohc vtec eats dick, i love the ls motor ---- reving to 8200 like my ---- box. he gets a dx motor. boosts the heck outta it saves himself mad headaches on tuning the vtec, fuel maps blah blah blah and with the right turbo he can make his torque even up with his hp. at 180 and 160 he should be good to see high 13's at the track, assuming a couple other factors, tires, weather blazy blazy blah. the 91 crx si motor and the 93 dx motor are basically identical. just about the same. its like replacing his si motor. plus. again this motor has 36000!!! miles. ive seen the motor, i would wipe my ass on it cause its probably cleaner than myself. these guys sell good ---- and hes giving him a warranty he can't refuse..... ricky has spoken. who was also with him through this 9 hour ------- charade for a d16z6 on saturday. did i mention for the last 2 weeks ive heard nothing but d16z6. i was gonna yank out the b16a2 and say let me sleep damnit!! ;D |

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I FOUND A D16Z6
53k miles 1994, 600 bux. Ricky can now sleep in peace without hearing about Z6's and help me find one bwuahahahah but on saturday he has to wake up at 8am to go pick it up with me so HAH!! your night mare is not over kid and wait till the turbo comes in your gonna pray you never got me into the honduh scene :) |
Re:Boosting a 93 DX Motor
cool man, have fun with it.
personally I wouldnt pay 600 for a d16z6... but wutever, its ur money, and sounds like they're tough to find where u are. I think i've decided to boost my dx, i alredy have a dx(d15b7) in my car.. so screw it, like he said, the z6 only has 23more hp, and I can make up for that with the turbo. :) |
