Default Boosted... Smells like oil burning....

Just wondering what could cause a "burnt oil" smell? I checked for leaks and didnt find any oil leaks...

I was thinking maybe it was the thermowrap that I put on the downpipe but am not so sure about that...

I have a leaky exhaust so I know part of the smell is from that, but GOOD LORD the smell of oil burning is just unbearable... any thoughts?

Didn't I tell you it was blowby cause you don't have your pcv system hooked up?

Oh yeah, I looked it up. Just the way I mentioned.. the "dsm way", you will also need an oil catch can.

1 of 2 things most likely.

1) ur seals are gone in ur turbo and u are burning oil out ur exhaust and smelling it threw ur exhaust leak (This really stinks and is really strong - don't ask how i know)

2) ur rings/ringlands/motor is gone and u are getting hella blowby out of the breather (This really stinks and is really strong too - don't ask how i know)

look for oil in the enginebay/on valve cover... also, look into getting a catchcan (which will be kinda a bandaid, but u won't choke)... goodluck

I would have suggested the rings first, but I thought he told me that the compression test came back good. Anyways, figure out what's up and let us know.

well the compression before I touched it was 220-235 across the board. Took off the head and put on a Cometic HP 0.057" headgasket...

My guess right now might be the seal on the turbo but still trying to figure it out. Well update you guys later with pictures etc...
