Default Boost question

Ok, I drove the car for a while today with the kit and have a few questions. It is a garret t25 off an eclipse. I have a boost gauge on and when I start off building rpms the gauge goes from about 20 vac to 0 and if I start to lay into the gas from 2800 and up the gauge goes into the boost. I did not get to see how much it would boost because the charge pipe off the turbo blew off and tore. My question is how much does the turbo boost. I meen, if it goes from 20 vac to 0 is it creating boost into the already or is it when the gauge starts reading it? Some guy told me t25 are set at 12psi and I've heard hear they are all 8psi. Since I was not able to tell for myself does anyone know for sure?
Thanks and sorry for the long post

Default Re:Boost question

why do you have a gauge?

the answer to that questions is that the gauge tells you exactly how much you are boosting, and if the gauge is reading 0 then you are in fact boosting 0.

fasten your charge pipes correctly and go for another run, and the gauge will tell you how much you are in fact boosting.

its when the gauge starts reading it.
and for the different people that told you what its set at. that depends on the wastegate you are using and not the turbo. what kind of management do you have, and what psi are you looking to run? if you are looking to run 8psi watch the gauge in third gear and if it moves further than 8psi back off the throttle and look for a new wastegate.

Ghetto is right. DSM's use a factory solenoid boost controller. I think the spring is 8 psi also.
