are you by chance running an FMU?

would a stock map seeing 12psi do it?

a stock map seeing any boost would do it if its not a modified rom with tables extending into positive manifold pressure.

but if its chipped and all that, no, it wouldnt.

Re: boost problem check engine light on

try using a the Missing Link(check valve) it prevents the ecu from seeing boost in the manifold http://www.synapseengineering.com/pr...ssinglink.html

I dont have a fmu I do have and upgrade ecu is the zdyne gold Im current running the B16A VTEC
Forced Induction
Spark: factory PW0, 1 deg retard / lb
Fuel: factory PW0, recurved for 450s, 166% @10lbs program with the stock map sensor, what Im worry about is the if Im running 12 psi or little big more that will broke my motor .
also I just buy the check valve and i dont know where that goes , can anybody help me by post a pics or diagrama showing where the check valve goes I will apreciate thanks ???

you dont need checkvalves if you're running a zdyne gold

i thought the stock map cant read above 11psi w/o throwing a code

well the check engine light is on so Im not pretty sure to run 13 psi of boost with manual boost control can anyone help me decide what it will be the best think I can do ???

im no pro here. but just to share ....

i do face this issue as well. well bear with me with alittle short story.

im running 7AFE with bolt on turbo. running stock fuel pump, 400cc injector, stock map sensor and SAFC II to control the fueling (boosting 0.8). now, before i tried to change my map sensor to turbo map sensor, everything was running fine. until my itchy hand tried to change to turbo map sensor (which supposed to be better), thing started to go wrong.

i've 2-3 turbo map sensor frm variety of toyota turbo machine. although all having the same wiring colour coding as my stock unit, but it doesnt run. Its either flood the engine or chock the engine (leaned out). so i decided to give up and put my stock map sensor back.

thn problem come. whn i started to floor throttle aggressively, im facing either boost cut or fuel cut. the car litterally chocking and engine check light on. should i floor smoothly, things looks ok. even i reset my ecu also the samething. so i suspect my map sensor gone...

but after a few days, i tried to play around with the fuel setting, i notice i forgotten to lower my fuel point after that day map sensor swapping section. so i lowered my fuel setting, and i manage to solve it partially. there is no more boost cut of fuel cut even i floor it at once. but my check light will still come on.

so im being told, too lean or too rich, engine check light will light on.... not sure how true it is. but i believe in too rich it will, too lean... i doubt so

what is the code for starters then go from there.

Re: boost problem check engine light on

Map sensor to small for the amount of boost.

salsero_utah 08-22-2006 05:34 PM

Re: boost problem check engine light on

Im getting code 6 so Im thinking is the map sensor so shoulg i try with the 2 bar map sensor or what other options do i have ?

TheMadScientist 08-22-2006 08:01 PM

Re: boost problem check engine light on

Yes, change to the 2 bar map sensor. Make sure the ecu is rescaled for a 2 bar.

Re: boost problem check engine light on

The weird think about is that some time I get only 6 psi even with the boost control on and sometimes I'll get 13 psi so Im not sure if the map sensor I have still good

Your problem more than likely is the afc...you can only scale back so far with an afc before the ecu sees boost regardless. On honda's with dsm 450's usually about 8 psi is the limit, don't know the specifics on your motor and size turbo, but it's a good place to start.

Doesn't sound like a map sensor problem to me. I've seen plenty of setups on stock map's that run 13+ psi with no codes. They just have to curve it rich from 11psi and up since the stock map will only read up to the 11'ish area. A jump from 6 to 13 psi is something a bit more serious than your map sensor, something more turbo related itself or motor related.

tks for the feedback. i guess i will have to leave it like this for awhile coz im getting my emanage with a porper dyno tuning soon. we will see how does it go frm there. As for now, the AFC is simple tune by butt. wahahahah

well the engine setup is mini me with the t3 turbo with a internal wg from a 87 nissan 300 zx walbro 255 fuel pump 450s cc injectors fpr set a 50 psi msd ignition 6 dual with a zdyne gold ecu aIm not petty sure if I have to upgrade the injector and the map sensor any tips what can I do with this setup so I can run more the 12 PSI SAFETY
