to boost or not too boost...??
i hava 91' hatch, swapped an a6 in it and was wondering if i should go about boosting it... the porblem is that my rings r a lil shot and i burn oil... is it still safe to boost or should i get ring job. my setup will b budget stock block, maybe run a t25

Re: to boost or not too boost...??
If you've got a spare engine boost it, blow it, swap it.

Re: to boost or not too boost...??
do a ring job with the engine still in the car, but a block gaurd and metal headgasket in and boost the ---- out of it, then when it blows up, reapeat

Re: to boost or not too boost...??
the closest i have to a spare engine is a bare a6 block that is already sleeve jacketed, b/c i was planning on building and boostin the ---- outa that, but my funds r no longer capable of doin that

Re: to boost or not too boost...??
You ask to boost or not to boost on HMT? Boost it of course, where you located around here I can get D blocks all day long, plenty to blow up ;D

Re: to boost or not too boost...??

|
Re: to boost or not too boost...??
I'm PA I'll keep my eye out for an a6 looks of D15, there is even an LS bottom end sitting at the Junk yard right now, and i just picked up a LS long block the other week if you were thinking of going to B series ;)
|
Re: to boost or not too boost...??
b sereis may b a lil pricey for me, if that were the case i may jus build the a6 blcok i have, but def lmk about a6 :y
|
Re: to boost or not too boost...??
ls is cheap and affordable for a b.
|
Re: to boost or not too boost...??

B18a1 $200-$400 Tranny $200-$300 Mounts $100-$300 Linkage $50-$150 90-93 Teg Throttle cable $15-$30 Rad hoses $20-$40 Clutch $80-$300 Proabably about $100 of misc stuff Looks like somewhere around $600 to $800 if you get some good deals on used stuff, I think mine was a lot less but I held out for some really ood deals on things ;) |
Re: to boost or not too boost...??
hmmm i c i c, ofcourse regardeless that b series bottom ends r so much stronger than d series for 6-800 dollars i can nearly build the a6 i have :6.... and to slap a budget setup on that, not much of a difference for me, plus the swap would b a pain, b/c i cant do it myself, nor do i kno neone that will do it for me for drit cheap lol

Re: to boost or not too boost...??

the ---- is that noel?? lolol, did u post a ------- dot

Re: to boost or not too boost...??
Really depends on your power goals, my b swap was by far the best upgrade for the car, easier and safer to make more power but it depends if you are happy with a build d maiking 300hp or a stock LS make the same power
