BOOST GOING CRAZY !!, need help....im screwed :S
hi,
Finished my crx turbo today but im having SERIOUS problems.
The boost is just going crazy.....i was expecting to run like 5-7 psi, but no...it was going op to 11.5psi before i knew it..AT PARTIAL THROTTLE
I wanted to make some WOT runs to tune my maps, but its impossible because the boost is going crazy...
How can i get my boost down....and i mean DOWN, raising the boost is easy...but down....im lost
Its a TDO4 turbo off a 3000gt (stealth), with a dodge ramvan wastegate. (made a bracket to make it fit). As i tested the wastegate it opened at like 5-6 psi on a compressor, but maybe its not opening it wide enough (not enough stroke) ?
Also, I mouned a golden eagle vacuum blok which is connected to my intake manifold (after the throttle body). From there i went to my zeitronix boost sensor, my autometer analoge boost meter, my turboxs bov, AND my wastegate. This is the right way isn't it ??
another little question, which would be the most accurate..the zeitronix boost sensor or the autometer. At the autometer i even got a bit more boost than 11.5psi i think).
I really need your help !!!! Please

try to adjust your wastegate to slightly open the valve even at idle. make a run and then work your way closed from there. also, if you can get the wastegate from the 3000gt that would really help. i have that same turbo with the wastegate that came with it and i run 5psi. can you take a pic of the turbo with the wastegate mounted on it. maybe your angle is bad or something

Re: BOOST GOING CRAZY !!, need help....im screwed :S
I'll make a pic asap. it went open when i tested it...im thinking that the vacuum/boost source isn't right. i'll throw my wastegat fully open tomorrow to see what the boost creep on that thing is...and then work my way to closed. I'll also add a vacuum/boost source for the wastegate as close to the turbo as possible. maybe that will help.
never the less, when im opening my wastegate at idle...i'll probably lose some of my instant spool isn't it ?
PS: i also looked for a stock wastegate actuator....couldn't find it anywhere...yea new for like 400,- . I also turned my turbine housing so i'll have to make it fit anyway.

here a pic of the wastegate actuator
And here i have a picture of the vacuum source as i made it. Is this the right way ? from the manifold to the vacuum block, from there to my wastegate actuator, boost sensor etc etc.

ehh sorry, not to be rude but have you been drinking while writing the last reply. You mean that if my wastegate actuator travel isn't far enough that it won't work. Oke thats obvious, but i thought it opened like more than 45 degrees....is that open enough ?
Btw, if im going to think about it, theoreticly...if i measure the boost in de manifold and right after the turbo, then it will be lower in the manifold since there will be a boost drop in the intercooler etc. So if i put my vacuum/boost source of my wastegate right after the turbo, it should open earier. (you also see many turbo's with a boost source for the wastegate right on the turbine housing so it will have a reason....

drinking yes, but yes, u have moor bosst at your turbo then at your manifold, it dioes drop between, so if u take it from the earlyest point(turbo if posble) it will open sooner. also check to see the trael ov your wastegate acuator , then disconect it from your turbo and see if the actuator has enuff travel to open the wategate all the way. if it doesnt the you migh not releae enuff exhaust gass to stoop the spooling of teh turbo
