to raise and lower boost. screw it in and make the arms shorter to raise boost, unscrew it and make the arm longer to lower boost.

so what effect does this have on a manual controller?
i cant go lower that where the arms set to right?

then ill just lower my arm to say 5 psi and use my controller to higher

if you wanted to use a boost controller to have it more easily adjustable, you would unscrew the arm and set it to the lowest possible boost you would want to run. then install a boost controller and raise it from there and lower it if you want to what the wg is set at.

i have a 6 psi spring (external wg, different than yours but same prinipal) and i run 11 psi that i control with my boost controller. i got a 6 psi spring b/c if i ever want to run really low boost, there's no way i could go lower than what my spring is set at, so if i got an 8 psi srping, that would be the lowest i could go, but i could go as high as i wanted with the boost controller.

right

little explaination of why a longer/shorter arm effects boost.

If the arm is SHORTENED. it will take a longer movement of the diaphram to open the valve. meaning it builds a little more boost. generally this just causes a boost spike (or thats what i would assume anyways)

if the arm is LENGTHENED it will allow a constant small amount of exhaust to bypass the turbine. this will cause less boost to be built. but also create a little more lag.

If you ask me. BOTH of these ways (shortening or lengthening) produce unwanted side effects.

if dailing in an EXACT amount of boost is what you're after, pop for an external wastegate.

but if i use an external my kit isnt usable right?
cant add an external to my greddy kit can you?

no, you would have to get a different downpipe and manifold. you'll be fine, just lengthen the arm of the actuator a little to lower the boost, the only thing about this is it doesn't spool up as fast.
