Threw the fuel rail and injectors on.

The 318i water temp sensor housing with all the extra sensor goodies. Threw a ground cable on there too for good measure.

Snaked the megasquirt harness through the hole in the firewall, to see how much room I have to work with.

Hooked up barbed fittings to the oil cooler

Also teflon'd up my oil feed fittings to the sandwich plate. I blocked off the other ports.

And tightened on the sandwich plate to my oil filter housing.

Cleaned and prepped the head & exhaust manifolds for assembly. I used parts cleaner to clean both mating surfaces then some high temp copper gasket maker ---- I heard would work well at high temps and pressures.

And threw the exhaust manifold onto the head, bolted it up.

And threw the adapter and turbo on for clocking purposes.

And lastly mounted the oil cooler onto the front grill, the feed and return lines fit nicely through the slats of this rusty behemoth of a sleeper.

That's it for today, the heat got to me and made me quit. I give up for now. More work tomorrow, car WILL BE RUNNING THIS WEEK GUYS!!!

I'm holding off on that as I'm now in a rush to just get this thing going at 10psi asap for a charity drive I'm going to this week. The week after that the fun really begins when I can start making my own parts and fab runs, like the exhaust shop :D

another update

note to everyohne who reads this: im verfy ------- hammere dright now, please excuse anyh errors i mayt make in my post.

dremeled out my manifold to turbo adapter i made:

Adjusted the vlavdes and threw the valve cover bac on... bunch of 10mm nuts keep it on and a 10mm bolt on the timing cfhain cover. used some copper permatex ----

Then taped up and split my megasquirt harness into 3 pieces. One for the injector system, one for the ignition system, and one for the sensors.

Strip the wire on the injector connectors, the red wires will be split into 2 pairs, with a 2 amp fuse on each pair of injectors. 1 and 3 were on one set of wires, 2 and 4 on the other.

Since I opted to use a switch board instead of a relay board, the extra relay harness wil be used for switches.

Hook up 2 injectors to 1 pair of the red injector wires, and the other 2 to the other pair for the positives. These will go to a positive switch block to bypass any relays, each pair will have a 2 amp inline fuse.

Since I can't hook up the 255walbro directly to my fuel feed due to the danger of sucking up air and leaning out, I have to make a seperate tank in the engine compartment with a low pressure feed pump and a high pressure built in walbro with a fuel filter sock. I found this container off a copy machine at work, figured it may work good enough. JB weld was my friend here.

Drilled a hole in the side of the conainter for the gas return,this will go back to the existing fuel return line to keep the tank from overflowing.

Drilled the holes for my EDIS4 module attachment, on the front of the firewall by the windshield washer nozzles.

Then rewrapped and ---- the existing wires on the car that have nothing to do with my standalone. But they were pissing me off and didn't want them to break or ---- up so I did some work on those.

going to attempt to start the car tomorrow, will keep u guys updaated as Igo tomorrows the big day. Hope it works, gotta hook up the ignition module and all the other good stuff. Tap into oil pan for the oil cooler and turbo return lines.

You basicly made a surge tank. Ideally, the fuel rail would return the fuel to that tank, with a slightly higher 'vent' (high drain) that will return excess fuel from the surge tank to the gas tank. I would be surprised if your old stock fuel pump has a higher flow rate as the 255 pump. Remember that it moves enough gas for ~550whp, whereas your 2002's pump probably pumps half that, if even close to that. I'd guess your surge tank will be empty by the time you crank the motor over...maybe longer if it only primes for a fraction of a second.

I got another fuel pump from a turbo FC RX-7 to keep the surge tank full, hoping it works.

Took out my windshield washer fluid reservoir about 6 months ago. Figured hey might as well use it for something, so put my fuel surge tank there in it's place.

Probably ran into some issues which set him back and now the project has fell to the wayside. I was gonna say, all that homemade ---- is fine and dandy, but on a super old car like the 2002 things can get a little iffy. Now on a bawler budget; no problem, but CDM and MS may have added some variables that made it not turn out properly. Or he could be happily boosting all over and just too drunk to remember to update. I'm definitely curious as well. Those fuckers came stock turbo, but I think only 350 of them were made or some ----. Always been one of my favorite cars.
