Put my kit on yesterday finally (Pics up sometime this week) I have an HKS SSQV I got cheap from some kid along with his IC piping. I can't tell if it is blowing off. I mean, I am only running 5 psi but... I thought they were louder. It makes a little bit of a blow off sound but then I hear the turbo spool down like on a Semi as if the pressure wasn't released. It was really tight so I loosened it a lot, it isn't leaking but it still isn't very loud if it's working at all. Thoughts? Ideas? Thanks.

 

no, its probably working fine. Most internet BS hypes up that BOV as being hella loud and its not. And plus, its only 5 psi

Yep, using Hotrex's old mani And I am running open downpipe, maybe that is it. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't hurting my beautiful turbo.

 

if you take the spring out and trim it a bit it'll be alot louder, since you're running low boost it doesn't open up quite as quick

 

It does sound Loud..just up the boost to 10-11 psi :P

Nonvtec, I'm running the same BOV and had the same problem. I'm boosting 10-11 psi and it's still fairly quiet. It screams when your on the highway ripping through the gears at full boost though. I had alot of compressor surge as well with it straight out of the box. I had trimmed about 2 coils off of the spring that was in mine in order to get to stay open a little longer. I still get a little flutter of compressor surge under light throttle, but I don't beleive it's doing any harm.
Ask hotrex what it sounds like, he went for a rip in my Integra. Got that bitch sideway's and almost made Josh ---- his pants. lol

 

you could also remove the spring completely
