i emailed str about installing their block guard and this is exactly what they said to me

"Thank you for purchasing STR Products. We highly recommend you do not weld the Block Saver in. Other than that anywhere below deck height is fine."

It would seem like as long as you let the cooling start to flow around the sleeves that it shouldnt have ay problem cooling un short boost. Maybe diff in like autocross

I've always wanted to go super ghetto and use a block gaurd and posting. Then I'd tell everyone the block was sleeved.

i emailed them and they say i won't need to hone the cylinders that their products are well engineered and i also won't have to weld the bg in place.

Which time? I had it at about 4 different positions before my cylinders warped and I couldn't pull it back out. Great product. ::thumbs up::

i mean, did you install it properly by align honing/boring it or whatever. maybe doing the heat treat by heating the block and freezing the bg? i dunno well here's the guy's response,

"what is the precision of the milling? what is hte proper way to
install them? and do you allow pickup? thanks"

they just tap in...yes we allow pickups
riiight.

btw, how warped were the cylinders? what do you think they'd have looked like if you didnt install it? im thinking the difference of materials and expansion/contraction rates aren't helping..

Which brand did you have Dr.Boost? Was it the same design as above or the one with the drilled holes?
