Blew my 60-1 up...
So Dave and I where doing some street ripping/tuning and this brand new PTE 60-1 started puking oil after about the second or third hard 3rd gear pull. This turbo had about 200 miles on it, and had a good feed and return. I wasn't running a restrictor, but I have ran three other journal bearing setups with no problems. Before install, I lubed with M1 10w30, and no boost for about the first 100 miles. Anyways timed down after any boost. Any thoughts on why this bitch is so pissed off?
Hopefully PTE will take care of me on this, I'm sending it back tomorrow morning.

Looks like the turbine shaft sealing ring failed. They're rather brittle and finicky even new, and since PTE modifies OEM Garrett turbos; maybe it was improperly installed after they modified it. Maybe the bearing housing itself is defective and the turbine sealing ring groove got damaged and it's not sealing all the way. Maybe it was pushed out of the groove on the shaft a little. It's just a guess, but I don't see any carnage, and there's oil in the hotside. Nice turbo as well, too bad it's acting like a CDM piece of ----.

PTE is nothing fancy.
We get a lot for rebuild.
Their "performance" turbos are equipped with the cheapest, yet very basic 270 deg. thrust system just like in the old stock garrett thunderbird and chrysler T3's.
Needless to mention, they all fail because of that. With proper internals and a good balancing, they can be just as good as a garrett turbo.
