Well the fail boat docked again.
90dx and myself (he is on his 4days off, and I'm self employed, hence all the free time) Swapped out the stock clutch today, and swapped in a used center force dual friction. Yes I realize they are a garbage clutch, but they should hold 200whp without a problem. Also 90dx knew the guy that ran the clutch and it only ran a bit b4 he put a rod through the motor. So we get it all torn down, I ghetto resurface the flywheel (angle grinder with flapper wheel, and then some brake clean) grab the center force, and it is the small version from the 88-89... So 90dx does some calling finds a guy he knows, we go up there and sure enough he has a motor sitting in his shed with the small flywheel, so we go to take the flywheel off at his house, and can't get it off. He says well just take the motor, isn't doing me any good. Sweet!! Score back up motor number 3
We get the motor back to 90dx's and put it all back together, only to realize there is no oil anywhere up at his place to put in the tranny. So we run down to urban indian's to borrow a pump and grab some oil. Turns his pump is in his car in Van... We go to PA pick up another pump, go back to 90dx's and Pistol is off work, so since it is his car we make him put the oil in the transmission.
In the mean time the shifter in the black hornet is super sloppy, and it ****'s 90dx off just looking at it, so we go back to the pile of civic parts and sure enough there is a good shifter from an eg, so we pull it apart, make some mods and install it in the black hornet. Now between this and the poly bushings we installed in the hornet the other day, it actually has a decent feel to it.
Finally after 6hrs of ------- around it is all back together, by this time there is a crowd at 90dx's, we send pistol and urban indian out to test the clutch, tell them to do a big burn out. In hind sight we should have told them to drive it around nice and try to get it seated some first, as it slipped bad, to the point where this one slips in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th. Where as the stock one was only slipping in 4th and 5th.
So now I guess we need to order a cheap ebay 6-puck clutch kit, 90dx ran one of these with good success last year on multiple 11.6x@118mph+ pass's. So it should hold great for the black hornet.
The biggest disappointment of this whole last couple of days of busting our ***'s getting it all going good, is that the track opens for the first time tomorrow evening and we really wanted to get out there and smash some people from the local car forum, but alas it isn't in the cards now. The good news of the whole thing is that I think we finally have Pistol convinced for an vitara's and rods build.

I love the Black Hornet, it pretty much embodies everything HMT. Buncha like-minded guys getting together to work on cars, grabbing freebies from friends here n there, and doing it all for as cheap as possible. I wish there was a "community" feel like that here. Everyone takes their ---- to 417motorsports (see the orange turbo ls1 240sx thread) so I wouldn't be surprised if most of the local "car enthusiast" around here couldn't change their own oil. But seriously, good ---- fellas.
