A big thanks to all you guys at HMT
 

After weeks of reading on HMT I bought a used T3 unit and slapped it on my 89 Civic.(d15b2).
All i used was used stuff such as piping,flanges and intercooler.
I mean...i built the whole thing for $125!
I'm starting off cautiously doing 2-3psi to see if the thing stays in 1 piece and it runs great!
Better power in mid range and the motor runs smoother too.
In the future i'll get a fmu and such but for now...i'm hella happy!

What are you using for fuel management? I don't think 2-3psi is going to blow your motor. ;) At that level it's probably faster stock with a header.

How does your oil drain look? That manifold looks like it places the turbo pretty low. Got any more pics?

Thanks man,
No management yet,hence the low boost.
The turbo is not sitting that low but it's really close to the block.
The problem was that the exhaust elbow/wastegate housing on it is in a fixed postition so i can't clock it.
Ford Escort Turbo's (here in Europe) have the turbo mounted 90 degrees tilted,so the elbow was pointing either forward or backward.
I could have let it point forward and build a downpipe from there,but then i'd have to put a 92-95 radiator in.
Therefor i made the manifold this way.
The return line..
The turbo came with a return pipe on it,all i did was let it point the other way,weld a small pipe on the oilpan and linked the 2 with a hose.
I'll make some close-ups tomorrow.

Eek, be careful with that no management thing. Pistons don't like it when you run boost with no fuel. Hell, they hardly like it when you run boost with fuel. :-\

I'm on it,and i will get the needed stuff when some cash comes along,till them i'm taking it easy...really easy.
A/f says i'm between stoich and rich all the time.
I know it's not a safetynet but it says at least a littlebit.

I though I was crazy going 15 psi with the FTB hack and 450's.
In which city are you?
Do an MPFI swap.....

Keep it at that crazy low boost until you get at least an FMU and pump and than take the time and learn how to use turboedit.

Semnos,i'm in Nijmegen,near Arnhem.
Funny the oilreturn was mentioned....the gasket was going out on me so the whole underside of the Civic is now coated in motoroil.I done fixed it and made all the pipes black.
