maybe its time for you to deisgn a TT setup with a smaller turbo lol..... Im sure you could get it to spool, but the question is if it would be useable. How fun would it be to have a stock b16 until you hit 7k? Im totally guessing but i would think a GM4 is smaller than a GM9? So it could be a bit much, but if not im sure that thing would flow like a mofo :) Good luck!

Borg Warner / IHI RHC6.
Don't use it. The first Lexus ES 300 turboed uses the newer series (GM-8) with a slightly better spool than the older one you have. They're all good for 350-400bhp.

The turbo spools at 3750rpm, and makes 5psi by 4000rpm, 14.7 by 4500rpm. Why is that important? He's got a 240-250bhp 3.0L v6 N/A, that makes 85% of it's torque @ 2500rpm.

If he can't spool it in a reasonable amount of time with three-five times the low end powerband worth of exhaust energy; there is no way in hell that you are going to be driveable on your i4.

That turbo really needs a v8 over 4.0L in displacement to get it moving.
Sell it & buy something that will actually get moving before you're bouncing off your rev limit.

an overly large turbo would not really make the car undriveable, just unresponsive down low. I always felt that turbos that spool very quickly kinda made cars undriveable, whereas a big turbo made for a very civil daily driver. As far as the issue of spooling/building boost you have to remember that a b16 probably has a few thousand more rpm to play with than that v6 does (just guessing, i dont feel like looking it up). I had a gm4 on a bone stock b16 and then again on it with slightly lower compression and i felt it performed well, although a set of cams or headwork would have made the motor suit the turbo more i think. I am by no means an expert, but if the turbo is cheap, i always say go for it and see how you like it

^ Same here. I'll eventually get this thing rebuilt and toss it on and see what it can do.
