Default better head for boost...?Noob Q.

i know this is a stupid question but ...ive been reading all info everywhere about a B18C1 block and B16 head..both stock..which will lower compression to about a 9.8:1 comp...compared a a stock B18c1 that has a 10.0:1 comp...my question is that when you put the B16 head do you lose HP and TQ?? since displacement stays the same ??or is it just HP..?...last Q..which head would beable to give me more power safely .with 10 lbs of boost or more.without blowing bottom end....LMK what u all think ..please dont flame but if so ...oh well ..im pretty sure im not the only one thinking about this....thanks for all help..

the b16 head flows better than the GSR head. the lower the compression the better for boost.

agreed, but if you have a full gsr motor just use it, you know its a lot easier to put a thick head gasket on with some arp head bolts and drop the c/r to like 9.2:1 if you want it to be safer, and easier to tune...

actually yea i do have a gsr block actually two bottom ends... and b16 head lying around...i was gonna trade the head for a GSR head and also i was gonna trade my b16 swap for a GSR swap but just didnt know what to do ...but after a little bit of search here on HMT i kinda found out that a b16 head would be better on GSR bottom end...so i wont waste my time taking my b16 swap out right now ...ill just work on putting together the 1 block and head...then send the other to get sleeved and bored...once i get money...

does anyone know if i lose torque by doing this swap...how about horsepower if so how much..estamations?...LMK thanks for all info...

Isn't the B16 head the same casting as a Type-errrrr without the factory P&P?

Pretty much...also don't forget the oversized type-r valves and beefed up valvetrain. I do like the gsr heads for their combustion chamber design...the cloverleaf helps for better flame propogation and such, but that's more or less something used by the all-motor crowd. Who needs efficiency when all a nog has to do is up the boost and re-tune :P
