you wanna make 300whp on a stock b16 untuned on a low budget? Your budget is going to be forced up when you grenade that thing.

Plus good tune and you can easily reach your 300hp goal stock block.
This man knows what he's talking about (BLAAST) so I would suggest you listen

IMO if you're on a tight budget to begin with, start with a more conservative number like 250whp. Running to 300hp on a stock block is right at the edge, and even though they can do it, all it takes is one small thing to go wrong and ruin your engine. Take into account the engine isn't young anymore and it's probably seen it's fair share of abuse. I speak from experience, as I've broken my fair share of b16 internals on "budget" builds. Go with blaast's suggestion for turbo size, or if you're on a cheaper budget look into the '03-'04 Evo 16g6's with the 9.8 hotside. One of those will be more than enough turbo for your stock b16 and you can find the earlier models of those turbos pretty cheap these days. Just have someone make a manifold for you with the twin scroll flange that those turbos have. Good tuning is a must from day one, but even tuning will only take you so far in terms of reliability before physics takes over and things break. And trust me, it will happen.

Well not a stock 16g. One with a 20g compressor wheel for the increased top end. An e316g just stock would probably be all right and fall off a bit because the b16 revs so high. A 20G would lag pretty good. If you could find a TD05H 20G that would be cool too, but they're $1k new.

The 20G compressor wheel is way bigger, just as big as a good sized T4 at 55.8mm. You can just get a blown 16g, and then send it in for a 20G wheel and rebuild ($300-$400). It'll spool fast because it retains the TD05H turbine wheel, but should be able to keep up with your b16a. You end up with a zero mile turbo that is oil/water cooled and has a 360 degree thrust bearing. Nothing too fancy, but it's decently cheap and very reliable for 25psi and less. There are other good turbos too.

I had an 18g on by b16 fully tuned on 10psi making around 240whp. It blew up after about 3 months. Dont run more than 7-8 psi on a b16 if you like having a car that runs. b16's are pretty high compression and dont take boost like an LS or GSR. keep it safe or be prepared to spend $$$.
