Bearing question about turbo (14b w/ pics)
I have it taken apart, and im now putting it back together. Everything is going smooth, but Im to a point where Id like advice. Where the oil feed is for the bearings in the journal, there is what I believe to be scoring from foreign material in the turbo oil feed. Im not sure, but it is making the bearings difficult to push in. Are they supposed to be floating bearings (like easy to turn inside the journals, or are they supposed to be fixed and the turbine shaft spins inside the bearing)? Or are the marks what I think are scored are actually feeding the rest of the bearing since it has 6 holes in it? The turbine shaft spins nice and free inside the bearing, so im going to assume that the bearings are supposed to be fixed in the center housing journals, but I want to ask before I ---- something up. Thanks.
Compressor side. Are those scored journals, or are they suppsoed to be there?
Exhaust side. Same deal.
New bearing. Has 6 holes, assuming the marks in the journals feed the other holes w/ oil? Or am I way off?
I dont think the oil was contaminated that was running through the turbo because the turbine shaft looks to be in good shape. Right?

Re: Bearing question about turbo (14b w/ pics)
sooo....
Is this normal? Is the housing fucked? Should I just jam the bearings in even with the very tight fit and run it? Does ANYONE have a clue?
The last reply is kind of hard to understand. Anything else someone would like to add? Please?

the bearings are full floating. make sure you didn't get oversized bearings. check the part number on the rebuild kit you got and talk to one of the ppl you got the bearings off of about it. the shaft looks ok, could use a micropolish or a green scotchbrite pad.
