Default bad reaction: homedepot couple to paint?

i painted my aluminum charge pipe with interior/exterior paint i got from the hardware store, and i used homedepot couples to connect them. At the location where the couple clamps, the paint has gone sticky.

Is that b/c of the couple? or b/c of paint on alumium. I sanded the aluminum down before i spay painted it.

Any help?

what kinda paint did you use?

Did you not let it dry long enough. What is the temperature rating on the paint?

Try re-doing it with DupliColor Hi-Temp Engine Enamel. Its ceramic based and handles high temperatures well.

Before turbo i did my air intake tube with the dupoint ceramic engine enamal. I too went goopy around the coulper to the trottle body. Easy fix, Dont paint that area!! just tape off an inch or so! If you already did, one word SANDPAPER

Good luck man!

Nah, same thing happened to my Home Depot coupler. paint got all sticky and ----. Must be the coupler. Try silicone instead if you don't like it. Or even, try Napa radiator hose (they sell silicone or rubber). They sell it in different diameters.

Sounds like the answer would to not use Home Depot Couplers.

Don't those things pop holes in em all the time anyways?

it sounds like you should keep doing what you are doing. If the paint got sticky its just another safe guard against the charge pipes popping off. I happened to like that feature. I painted my charge pipes and then they never blew off any more becuase the rubber couplings fused with the pipe becuase of the paint.
