Default Bad Idea?

I'm gettin ready to buy my turbocharger and I want to know what some of you guys think cause this will be my first time... I've got an f22b1, it's an automatic but I'm gonna go with a turbo anyway. I've read through a few good books by Mike Kojima and Joe Pettitt and I've done a lot of my homework. However, before purchasing a turbo I have e-mailed my idea to some of the guys at topend performance just to see what they thought. What I have read in the books seems to contradict some of what these guys are saying. So, now I'm confused. Using the formula given in one of the books, I determined that if I want to make around 450hp I'm going to need to be running about 20psi to my 2.2L. So, I did my homework and used Mike Kojima's formula to figure out what my engines Corrected Mass Flow and Pressure Ratio are at 4,5,6,7 and 8,000 rpms. By comparing that to the compressor maps it would seem that for me to be running 20psi with my engine, a good turbo match would be the T04E 50,-60 or the T61. I asked the topend guys about this.

They said,
"Either one will work well for an all out Drag application. A large T04 Turbine like that is not a good idea for the street and certainly not with stock con rods. You should use a large T3/T4 Turbo for that application." ( I told him I wasnt sure if I was gonna get forged rods or not because from what I've read they should be able to handle up to 500hp stock, but then again I might get them anyway.)

Is it just too unrealistic to be running 350-450hp on a street motor? I checked the turbo selection chart provided by turbonetics on the topend website and even that says that if I'm planning on over 200hp I need at least a T04E-46. So why are they telling me to go with a T3? My books are also telling me that for my motor to make 300-500hp with peak boost between 3,500-4,000rpms(which they consider a Max Street Performance Combo) I should use something like a T04E-60 and they consider the T61 on my motor a "full-race" making 500-650hp.

Mike Kojima also says
"These combinations might not be what the turbo salesman will reccomend and are certainly not the only possible ones that willl work well out there but they should work well if your end use is as what we described in the chart below".

My basic questions:
Is 450hp too much for the street?
Do I need forged connecting rods if I go 350-450hp?
Can my Auto even handle 450hp?
Is a T04 turbo too large for my f22b1?

Books I mentioned are:
Mike Kojima- Honda/Acura Engine Performance
Joe Pettitt- High-Performance Honda Builder's Handbook

Thank you all for reading my long *** post. -Matt

I would think its a waste of time even though you have a goal in mind. Not on an automatic, plus you would have to build your engine to handle that amount of boost, obviously you havent done your research because stock honda engine can safely handle up to 8 psi. At your 20 psi on stock internals, youll be fucked

Go get a manual first before anything, autos are teh gay

Yeah, that auto tranny probably won't last long under a 450 horse strain. Hell, my auto probably won't last long under the 150 horse it *might* get from my setup...

Thanks for the comments so far guys. And btw I will be building all my internals, I have $1,500 set aside for all the internal crap like valves, valve springs, retainers, guides, pistons, seals, block guard etc. I guess I should have clarified. Im just talking specifically the turbo here so I didnt want to make the post any longer that it already was. The only internal part I was unsure of was the rods. You guys think that an auto can handle any boost? (all opinions welcome) I have considered converting to a manual but that seems too expensive. I will be keeping my car cause I did things backwards and fully customized the interior and exterior already. I'll post a few pics if i can....
