Default B18C Turbo Project

Hi im new to this forum and I wanted as much input as possible on my project. I heard very highly of this forum and I know that all of you guys know your stuff. I have a B18C in a 98 Civic DX and I want to put a turbo on it. I have Type-R internals so the compression is probably way to high its also bored out .25. The Intake is a Type-r cam Gears, Crane Cams, The ignition is all done. Everything is pretty much done. Its pushing around 200 hp im not to sure about the tourque though. I wanted to just know from someone experianced a specific blueprint and your suggestions on a turbo, manifold, wastegate, intercooler, blow-off, good a.r's, boost levels and anything else that I would need to really make this thing rip at the cheapest price. Any positive feedback and help would be greatly appreciated i'm doin as much reading as I can and I respect the help and experiance of all of you at this site so any help from you guys would really help out someone like me who has goals to make a turbo B18C rip.

Thanks to everyone that realy helps me out, once again it is greatly appreciated.

ROB

that sounds like a pretty nice motor. Boosting a motor w/ that kind of C/R wont be the safest thing to try, but none the less, is more then possible.

The high revving b18c will need a slightly larger turbo then the d-series. Im thinking a T3, 60/63 should do u fine. Manifold, well, custom or from a kit. I/C Custom Coach or Tyrus make great IC that find awsome behind civic/teg bumpers. Look for those names or visit www.speedpartsrus.com (custom coach stuff). Piping, JC whiteny and a welder Waste gate will depend on the manifold u choose and the turbo. Will either have a built in (known as an internal WG) or u can get a manifold that has the proper mountings for an external WG.

Well I went about the swap stupid I sold the original DX motor and took it out before I knew for sure that I even had the B18c. The motor I bought was very well worked on and it was rebuilt about 2000 miles before I bought it so I got a pretty good deal. The problem with mine was the wiring. The car is a 98 so it is obd2 but the motor I bought was a 99 and the guy I bought it from converted the computer to OBD1 So i had to gat a wiring harness adapter. Then I had to get a new distributor for the OBD1 electronics. The other thing is the mounts if i remember correctly only 2 mounts from the old motor could be used so i said screw it and bought all Hasport mounts and brackets, its a little more expensive but in the end its worth it. The rear ac bracket is the major one that needs to be changed. then theres the tranny mount and bracket the drivers side mount and the passenger side bracket. i think that the other 2 worked okay but you should check up on it because im not really positive if they were the whole thing or just the mount or the bracket. I got a new radiator because the old one didnt fit , i would recomend fluidyne. But If you have all the parts and evrything laid out exactly right it should go pretty smoothly in no more than 2 weeks, if you really work on it. I've heard of the motor fitting right in in a few days but its all about how much time you want to put in it. If you have any more questions id be glad to help

Listen If anyone is viewing this post I really need help. I cant find many t3's with a 60/63 a/r also i wanted to know if I could go the bigger step up with a turbo and what that would be. The last thing is if any of you have any ideas on how to lower my compression and what you think I should lower it too
Thanks,
Rob

Well as far as those ar #'s that u need, look into the Ford Thunderbird Turbo, big turbo and I think it has 60/63. Maybe the cheapest way to lower the compression with out changing the internals is a thicker headgasket. Hope this helps

you dont necessarilly need a 60/63 ar, a 48/60 ar will be better, note the smaller sized turbine spools faster,or a t3/t4 hybrid, I feel like I'm diong free advertising for this guy but he has great deals, and he also ship fast, I bought one of his turbo for $290, remanufactured(new) here it is http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2430014303 note do not buy a stainless steel manifold, they will crack and you wont be able to get it replaced, ssautochrome.
