B18B1 with turbo QUESTION!!!
i'm getting a b18b in my car soon....
i got a good deal with a td04 turbo....
will this turbo be good with my car/engine?
i drive a 92 civic sedan....
how much boost is that wastegate?
how much boost can my stock engine handle?
what engine management is the cheapest...and reliable...
i dont' want to build the internals...how much hp/torque can i expect with this turbo....
if i do decide to build the internals in the future, and boost higher, what is the max psi for this turbo, and hp/torque numbers....
thanks guys

TD04, be a bit more specifc please.. Since their are variants of that turbo, and differnt sizes.
More than likly it will work, but the turbo is a bit undersized for your app. If you are using a TD04 DSM turbo, the stock wastegate actuator is set at 8psi. I dont know every model car with a TD04 and what they are set at. The best way to tell is just simply hook it up and try it. Normally internally gated actuators are no more set than 10psi. Range from as low as 5.0 all the way to 10.
How much power can you make... again, depends on what size the turbo is.
Fuel management, read through this forum, we talk alot about the AFC hack/FMU's/and injector controllers. lots of different options.

i think the TD04 came off the talon...don't know what year though....
i have an custom exhaust.....2.5"
i'll probably have the downpipe from the talon....and maybe the manifold as well.....
with a b18b1 ...how much hp/torque can i expect?
what would you guys recommend?

Ahh, that TD04, now thats a small one, I ran one of those on a D16a6 Mini-me for awhile. It spooled like a mother ******. I had full boost 8psi at 3500rpms.. (custom spring setup) but it worked well.
I suppose it could work on your app, but since you are not turning that many rpms, you should be ok. You can probably run about 10-12psi before it really get Inefficient.
Avg power.. 5-7psi intercooled 30-40hp

Some people have run 15psi on stock B18's but that doesnt mean your engine can do it. It all maters on fuel managment, and how good its tuned. I have never done your setup so I cant answer your questions, nor has anyone probably ever done it.
Why not just do it, and stop worrying? B18's are strong
