Has anyone tried this - how hard would it be to transplate the drivetrain into a 5th or 6th gen civic? Would the tranny bolt up?

Sweet man thats what I'm talkin about SLEEPER I know it was just for fun but you should maybe put a little more into the turbo setup and engine. Maybe intercool it and raise the boost a little. As for the tranny into another car, yes, it is a D series tranny so it wil bolt to your engine, use the newer model mounts for top and rear of the transmission. The only problem i see is that teh 4th gens have a crossmember mount and the 5th and 6th have a torque mount on the front of the tranny. I have see people do swaps and get by without the torque mounts though. Maybe a little custom fabrication. The other thing is that the 4th gens have cable trannys and the 5th and 6th are hydraulic but Hasport sells a conversion kit for this. After you get it mounted you might need a custom drive shaft and you will have to change out the rear suspension and transplant the rear end from the wagon. This is just a starting point to give you an idea of what will be required. There's also all the unplanned things that pop up when modding a car . That's to be expected.

I want one... you could throw a ZC and turbo that in there... I wonder how much that drivetrain could take... can we say lsd... 1, 2, or maybe even 3!!!

That's the only thing about the wagons. the 4wd system is very hit or miss. It is said when they have problems they really have problems. And being that they where only on the a6 equipped wagons and not used on another honda/acura the parts are hard to find and costly. Reguardless and awd turbo Honda would really shut some of the wrx/evo guys up.
I'd go turbo mini me or a turbo zc at about 8-10 psi gut that bad boy maybe put a hybrid gear set in the tranny(crx si set). I think what would truly be awsome would be transferring it into a CRX or to go sleper put it in a 4door. On the subject I found pics and a write up somwhere of a crx with 4wd gsr swap fom Canada a while back. that was bad ***.

Its a 90. In the 4th gen civics, the only chassis modifications needed are to drill/tap/weld mounting points for the transfer-case housing in the ***-end. the suspension points all bolt up, etc. Oh yes, the driveshaft that goes to the rear uses a "halfshaft" type of mount that mounts to a flimsy metal bracket thats spot-welded to the car from the factory. This will also need to be duplicated, which wont be a big dea.
This will be the end result of the drivetrain because lets face it, this chassis isnt going to last through the winter I have a clean 4dr thats just waiting for the wagon to break in half!
I have since tossed a small SAAB IC in there, but Ive kept the boost down. It hits 5 psi near redline, and thats fine for me. Still pulls harder than most cars Ive driven because you ACTUALLY HOOK UP! The IC made a HUGE difference, mainly in the smoothness of acceleration.
Oh ya, Ive been on HMT for ----...over a year now I think? I was one of the firt few to sign onto the forum when it was first made I think Im just not a regular poster here

It wont be AWD either, Im going to dub it "TWIN DRIVE", because of the two seperate engines/drivetrains situation. I still have no idea how its going to drive, but all arrows are still in the GO! direction Parts collected, now I just need to save $ for engine build-up. Theres NO reason I shouldnt see 1200comibined WHP on race gas Just think of this...800c.whp on pump
