AWD Wagon(from HT) :)
I threw this together in about an hour, Ive had the parts laying around for years, I decided to put them to good use!

LIke $5 from PetSmart, looks half blingin and works ------ AWESOME for T-ing things out. Its similar to a vaccum manifold, except you just flip the lever, and you can open/close a vac. line. Ive used them as boost controllers as well =) 1 lever open usually = 1psi increase ;) I said SIMPLE setups, Im not sure I would trust it about 5-6 psi. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...7/fa896ab7.jpg AWD axis-spin donuts are VERY FUN :) |
Re:AWD Wagon(from HT) :)
bwahahaha, bungee boost gauge ;D why don't you sell me those rims.
|
Re:AWD Wagon(from HT) :)
That car is Ghetto...damn you got a lot of rust man.
The rims are nice though. Nice setup...it's easy having no intercooler ;) |
Re:AWD Wagon(from HT) :)
Ha, cool ----! how's the pull on that bad boy? mad sleeper ;) i likes..
|
Re:AWD Wagon(from HT) :)
Im diggin it. Get a video lol.
|
Re:AWD Wagon(from HT) :)
On a dirt road, drop the clutch at 5k, sit there for a few seconds, turn the wheel, start axis spinning. Nuff said :)
On pavement, I have yet to break traction, and YES IVE TRIED. Video will be up when snow flies! Got the car for free, Im not showin the car off, but jst the fact that Im a crazy fucker for boosting it :P |
Re:AWD Wagon(from HT) :)
yes indeed! ;D
|
Re:AWD Wagon(from HT) :)
Like I said to you on honda-tech... you NEED at least 5psi :P
VIDEO TIME!!! |
Re:AWD Wagon(from HT) :)
by the way what turbo is that??? t25? how many pounds you pushing?
|
Re:AWD Wagon(from HT) :)
you didn't get banned for posting that on ht??
|
Re:AWD Wagon(from HT) :)
welcome to HMT tinker. u make some sexy manifolds ;D
hows the AWD h22 del sol coming? 8) |
Re:AWD Wagon(from HT) :)
Has anyone tried this - how hard would it be to transplate the drivetrain into a 5th or 6th gen civic? Would the tranny bolt up? :D
|
Re:AWD Wagon(from HT) :)
Sweet man thats what I'm talkin about SLEEPER I know it was just for fun but you should maybe put a little more into the turbo setup and engine. Maybe intercool it and raise the boost a little. As for the tranny into another car, yes, it is a D series tranny so it wil bolt to your engine, use the newer model mounts for top and rear of the transmission. The only problem i see is that teh 4th gens have a crossmember mount and the 5th and 6th have a torque mount on the front of the tranny. I have see people do swaps and get by without the torque mounts though. Maybe a little custom fabrication. The other thing is that the 4th gens have cable trannys and the 5th and 6th are hydraulic but Hasport sells a conversion kit for this. After you get it mounted you might need a custom drive shaft and you will have to change out the rear suspension and transplant the rear end from the wagon. This is just a starting point to give you an idea of what will be required. There's also all the unplanned things that pop up when modding a car . That's to be expected.

Re:AWD Wagon(from HT) :)
Honestly, it doesnt get anymore HMT style than that.. lol, I love the bunge on the boost gauge.. ;D
Welcome to the site Tinker... I read lots of your posts on HT. I totally dig the name "love-fab" :) |
Re:AWD Wagon(from HT) :)
I want one... you could throw a ZC and turbo that in there... I wonder how much that drivetrain could take... can we say lsd... 1, 2, or maybe even 3!!!

Re:AWD Wagon(from HT) :)
That's the only thing about the wagons. the 4wd system is very hit or miss. It is said when they have problems they really have problems. And being that they where only on the a6 equipped wagons and not used on another honda/acura the parts are hard to find and costly. Reguardless and awd turbo Honda would really shut some of the wrx/evo guys up. ;D
I'd go turbo mini me or a turbo zc at about 8-10 psi gut that bad boy maybe put a hybrid gear set in the tranny(crx si set). I think what would truly be awsome would be transferring it into a CRX or to go sleper put it in a 4door. On the subject I found pics and a write up somwhere of a crx with 4wd gsr swap fom Canada a while back. that was bad ass. |
Re:AWD Wagon(from HT) :)
What year is that? my neighbor has one he said he would sell me for 100 bucks, i think its an 87.. it has like an EH engine in it, not a d series... so i dont really want to buy it then... that one obvously has a d series...

Re:AWD Wagon(from HT) :)
haha dude that's hawt!

Re:AWD Wagon(from HT) :)
Its a 90. In the 4th gen civics, the only chassis modifications needed are to drill/tap/weld mounting points for the transfer-case housing in the ass-end. the suspension points all bolt up, etc. Oh yes, the driveshaft that goes to the rear uses a "halfshaft" type of mount that mounts to a flimsy metal bracket thats spot-welded to the car from the factory. This will also need to be duplicated, which wont be a big dea.
This will be the end result of the drivetrain because lets face it, this chassis isnt going to last through the winter :) I have a clean 4dr thats just waiting for the wagon to break in half! I have since tossed a small SAAB IC in there, but Ive kept the boost down. It hits 5 psi near redline, and thats fine for me. Still pulls harder than most cars Ive driven because you ACTUALLY HOOK UP! The IC made a HUGE difference, mainly in the smoothness of acceleration. Oh ya, Ive been on HMT for ----...over a year now I think? I was one of the firt few to sign onto the forum when it was first made I think :) Im just not a regular poster here :( |

Re:AWD Wagon(from HT) :)
Much love to "love fab"......i drooled on that website before. Those are some sexy mannifolds :-* man.
|
Re:AWD Wagon(from HT) :)
ill buy that car for $5....
BTW LoveFab SST=sexy...and i love the fact you are making a $500 range manifold w/ AC and PS...thats kick ass to make something affordable and convienant... your next project should be to make my car go fast...but do it all out of the kindness of your heart and not charge me a dime ;D |
Re:AWD Wagon(from HT) :)
thats a ghetto ass ride but thats how i like em. sweet!
|
Re:AWD Wagon(from HT) :)
So that was not an awd chassis at first, i would like more info on it, because like i said i might buy an 87.. so if i could put the suspension in something else or something (friend has a 89 4dr civic), give me a heads up!

Re:AWD Wagon(from HT) :)
that AWM trans will bolt to a ZC ? now youve got my attention. anybody got a spare trans for one of these laying about. i know the 1st gen teg ZC and 86-89 accord trans internals are interchangable. i never knew they made and AWD civic. i would assume though that the 1st gen teg trans guts were used. hmmm now im thinking.
|
Re:AWD Wagon(from HT) :)
Yeah the internals are interchangeable, but how are you gonna add the differential from the civic tranny to yours? or are you talking about bolting it to your engine?
|
Re:AWD Wagon(from HT) :)
keep in mind, it's not awd.
|
Re:AWD Wagon(from HT) :)
well actually only the bellhousing are different between the teg/accrod trans so in thoery it should bolt right to the 3g belhousing. unless im missing something about how the transfer dif is mounted. if you could send me a few pics id be most grateful. as for the rear dif theres alot of CRV in the junkyards these days.
|
Re:AWD Wagon(from HT) :)
the tranny will bolt up to any d series. it uses a half shaft system. so those are the only holes that will be off, to the pass side, directly under the alternator. the length of the driveshaft will need to be changed. and mouting for the rear diff. also you would need the rear hubs from a wagon. it uses a viscous coupler (spelling), so you will also need mounts for that in the center of the drive shaft. it uses a 2 shaft system, with the front shaft spinning all of the time. etc... just like any slush box 4wd.

Whatever the drivetrain is, with all 4 wheels off the ground(on jack stands :P ), if you spin any of the front wheels, the rear ones spin as well. So....whats this mean? I thought it was a viscous coupling or whatever, so that when theres a difference between the front and rear wheel-speeds that only THEN the rear wheels would engage. It also goes two ways, the rears spin the fronts. Unless mine is broken, and its stuck in 4WD mode :P I just finished my ghetto hood scoop. With some Bondo, and TLC, I think it could actually look pretty good :) I surprised myself. Pics coming soon, ALONG WITH VIDEOS! :) |
Re:AWD Wagon(from HT) :)
so let me get this right. the transfer dif doesn bolt to the trans. ? if thats the case SWEETTTTTT !!!!! as for it being a vicsous coupling is probably a helical side gear arragnement like a typical thrimemeber in a v8 car. as for the rear diff ahh b20 crv etc could be used id still have to put in some sort of viscous coupling of limted slip in the trans. i like this. could you please grab some pics of how this is all set up. THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!1

I think we should get a thread about your Twin engine Del sol project going too... I'm very interested to see how that goes ;)
