You could also put a rotary turbo in it. The Rotary bolts up to the tranny. That motor is 200hp before mods. Racing Beat in Anaheim, CA did one a few years ago.

Taking a ride in a turbo miata is what got me in to making cars fast. The guy claimed ~450whp. Cant say if he was telling the truth or not but it sure did feel like it. Felt like an 11 sec car. I almost ---- my pants.

Miatas are kinda ghey looking yes, but the motors are ------- STOUT. (1.6,1. They hold up under boost. Fo realz dawg!!!

Megasquirt: I've got 2 friends with megasquirt-n-spark. A 1987 Volvo 740, and a 280z turbo of some sort. My friend actually builds the units for $50 labor. He was the first person (in the known universe) to put squirt-n-spark on a volvo.

New turbo one claims 14.59@93mph ( says Motortrend ), but they also claim the RX8 runs 14.5, and I'd have to see it to believe it...

The new one also has an insanly undersized FMIC, and like the protege, it has a pimp *** .60/.63 ballbearing Garret GT series turbo !!! a fatter, longer, taller intercooler with a boost controller could sick the little miata into the 13's easy.

I bet madza "detuned" the turbo miata so it wouldn't beat the RX8, kinda like chevy kills every car that they've ever made that can whip the vette ( cough cough GMC cyclone ).

O on another note, I hope they built the turbo miata for boost unlike the Madzaspeed Protege that they just grabbed a stock ole protege motor and slapped a turbo on it.

The MP protege can/will break before that garrett turbo even starts to get into its "sweet spot".

I guess is kinda honda guys way of thinking too though, " hey lets run a 500hp turbo at only 8-10 psi on are 1.6L !!" Its true, I'm even guily of it...
