Anyone here done a Mustang / 5.0 302 Turbo Build?
Hey guys, just stumbled upon the forums.
I have plans to TT my 95 Mustang GT with the 5.0 / 302 engine. I was curious if anyone had any experience or prior knowledge that might help me in this sort of application. I was looking at getting two Garrett T3s yanked from 1986-1989 Vovlo 740s. They have internal wastesgates, and also threaded rods so you can adjust the boost level.
As I understand it, I would have to have some custom muffler pipe of 2.5" bent at a muffler shop and one end enlarged to 3". The enlarged end would be attached to the factor headers (sides swapped and reversed) after the flanges were cut off. I could then reuse those to attach the downpipes.
This may sound a simplistic question, but where exactly would I want to put the turbos? What's a good placement? I guess I have the freedom to put them most anywhere depending on the length of the muffler pipe. I guess a good placement would be symmetrically placed on either side of the engine towards the front. Then the outlets of both would be attached with a Y pipe, and that would be fed to the mass air flow? I'm hoping to avoid losing my AC and would hope I could arrange the downpipes to allow that. I'm running an Offroad X-pipe as my exhaust so that should be possible, I'm told.
I'm pretty new to the whole forced induction thing, but given the price, I really want to get into doing this so any information to help me set this up would be great.
Thanks in advance!

holy hell i have see a tt 5.0 mustang and its crazy, there are some sites out there and the cars are putting down 1000+hp i think someone even makes a kit for it.
you can put the turbos wherever usually its a matter of where the exh manifold puts em.

Here are pics of Todd's car:
Driver's side turbo mounting, tucked into the fenderwells to maintain AC and PS.
Weaksauce Powerstroke IC. Look at the POS, too tiny to be worth the installation.
Bleh.
Todd's probably embarrassed by his junkyard 10 second (if he finds traction) TT5.0. He put all this together a while back with a cheap MIG in true junkyard style... all the bling stuff he's been building lately, tubular stainless manifolds, ICs, have kind of gotten his pride/ego going. He's hell on wheels with a TIG, and comparing what he turns off these days he looks at the Stang and feels like it was wasted time.
I say he's being a woman, and he needs to sport it with pride... break it off in a few geriatric owned Vipers, no traction Supras, Z06 Slowvettes. The imperfections in the build only make the bling or $$$ crowd who think they are fast feel like idiots. That car, if he'd spend the $200 and four hours it lacks to be finished, is faster than anything on this board - and most of the others out there.

Guess what your doing june 27- july 3rd. I now have all the parts to make it run.. Its just a mater of doing so.
for those who care.. I'm expecting low 11's to high 10's with the stock motor. More once I get fancy with an intake manifold.

I'm tempted to make a mustang 5.0 weekend car now I'd run maybe 8 psi with street legal slicks.. heh, that'd be fun.
oh.. and I was talking about 12's in the 1/4
