Default anyone else hate FI in cool weather?

up here in canada, its horrible, when its anywhere near freezing temperature or below.

im not sure if it was my intercooler working a little bit too good or if my engine just sucked at heating up but i wasn't enjoying it.
it would be the middle of the day, i would drive for maybe 10-15 minutes non-stop and the needle would just reach operating temperature and i would boost through one gear, just a few psi, and the needle would drop like a rock right back down to cold and i would loose whatever heat i had.

even cool weather, like a summer evening when it cooled down a bit i could drive for a few minutes and it would get to warm and then i would boost through 2 gears and i could see the temp needle drop, although it wasn't dropping right down to cold it was still noticable.

i was thinking of making a winter front for my intercooler, so that i wouldn't wreck something throwing freezing air into an already cold engine. but that plan is no longer, as my car is parked for the winter.

and a cool thing about having snow on the ground is you can pull into a parking lot with a buncha people standing around and keep gassing the throttle in first gear working up enough boost to make the BOV go nuts and get peoples attention. it sounds just mint.

my car warms up quicker under boost, might try putting in another thermostat. sounds like its sticking open a little bit, allowing the water pump to cool it too much at higher rpms.

That happened on my D16Z6 and it was normally aspirated. I had a radiator leak and the temp gauge went off the scale due to their being no water in the system. This did no engine damage, but i'm pretty sure it knackered the thermostat. Try a new one or there is stuff you can buy (over in UK anyway) that you put in your radiator that retains engine heat better. When I find the product name i'll post it.

my rad is less than 4 months old, and my thermostat was replaced at the same time.

what kind of thermostat are you using? you may be able to go to a higher degree t-stat and acheive your desired results. the average car runs a 192 or 195 degree thermostat, but they make some that are 200+, check those out.

hey there this might sound a little redneck but your from canada your live next to them. but putan 8in by howeverlong your gadiator is peice of thick cardboard over the front of your radiator. i lived in N.Y. for awhile and my van/ car/ trucks all did the same thing. your engine is not getting a chance to build up heat. when you put this in front of the radiator it will blok the wind giving it a chance. just be shure to remove it in the summer or you will blow a radiator hose or warp your motor.
