Re:Any Mini-me Dirty D Vtec's runnin' around
when boosting a d series engine i think vtec is rather pointless. build up your a6 head and turn up the boost. this is what i did and it fing rips. well i have alot of money into my setup now than my previouis one so cant wait to get it dynoed once i break in my new motor

Could you guys explain why you would want to keep it non-vtec and low compression? It would be faster with a vtec head and higher compression. I say if you can do the mini me swap cheap go for it. Just get good fuel management with your turbo setup and tune it really well.

Not here to start arguing over high compression with boost vs low compression with boost, but I will just say lower compression with higher boost always makes more power safely than high compression and higher boost.
15psi daily on 93 oct. with low compression.
or
8psi daily on 93' oct. with high compression.
Lower compression should also help the engine last longer.
4g63T, 6g72TT, 2JZ, and buick GN all have something in common, low compression, is it any wonder they are the top dogs on the street ?
Take it for what it is, don't agree... OK.. I'm tired of agruing with honda guys over this.
I kinda sound like a dick, but you can imagine I have to explain it a lot.
$1000 EMS
9.5+ compression
and 8 psi wold be sweet on the street, the boost/cfm that the motor can handle is limited b/c of knock.
AFC hack
8.4/1 compression
and 12psi ( from a big cfm turbo, like a 60-trim ) would be much faster and reliable. Or at least faster.

Re:Any Mini-me Dirty D Vtec's runnin' around
I see Jeff talk all the time about how he would rather have higher C/R with good fuel/spark management instead of low C/R with more boost so there must be a good reason he says that. I obviously don't know as much as a lot of you guys, but there is so much information or miss information out there I don't know what to believe. I'm not trying to argue I am just trying to learn.
If you were running 10 psi on the same engine and turbo setup with the only difference being one engine has 10.5:1 C/R and the other has 8.5:1 C/R the car with the higher C/R would be faster and make more power right? Why not get good fuel management and have your car dyno tuned by somebody that knows what they are doing then safety shouldn't be an issue. That's just my understanding from everything I have read. People boost stock B16's, B18C's, and H22's and they all have 10:1 or higher C/R.
