Re: Another turbo ?

Before you spend $$ on a "super 60" be aware that 90% of them are not super 60s. Some people are retarded, some are misinformed, and some are just flat dishonest.

A true "super 60" will be pretty expensive. It's a special compressor and requires a special compressor cover. Most "super 60s" are actually simply 60 trim t3s.

My guess is you're looking at two turbos.
.48/.60 t3
.63/.60 t3

Turbonetics DID make a true super 60, but you'll have to measure the inducer with a micrometer to be able to tell...

The difference in a 60 trim t3 and a "super 60" isn't that much - a slight shift to the right on the compressor map.

How fast a turbo will spool is *primarily* determined by the size of the turbine, as that's where most of the mass is.
For turbos with the same turbine, the smaller AR will spool faster and run out of steam quicker.

He's correct^^^^. The "super 60" does shift the map slightly to the right, but there's not much of a big difference between it and a regular "60 trim".
Standard T3 60 trim...

T3 "super 60"

The .48/.60 T3's are usually a smaller trim though, most t-bird and svo turbo's are usually a 50 trim IIRC...

no actually all t-birds and svo's are 60 trim.

to gain significant flow over the t3 60 trim, the next step is a small t4 compressor, such as the t04b s trim or the t04e 40 or 46 trim.

hey, not to thread jack, but what does it cost to have a t4 compressor put on a .63/.60 T3? I just had mine rebuilt by you a couple months ago, but in the future I would like to go bigger. Just curious.

Contact samson - he's got a t3/t04 s-trim forsale I believe... Basically the next size turbo up from the .63/.60 t3 - good guy, willing to send it back to Blaast for inspection before sale.

To convert your existing, you'll need a new compressor, new back plate, new compressor cover, dyamic balance.

Re: Another turbo ?

yeah apparently this turbo is coming here for a seal check anyways so it will be freshly built.

i finally got a t3/t4 from a local Yes its ssautoshit but he has papers of the garrettized rebuild but evenso Blasst most likley you will see this 1 soon PS. would i be able to swap a garret compresser houseing on it So its easier on the eyes when i pop my hood.

Re: Another turbo ?

yes sure you (we) can swap compressor housings for a garrett one on the chinese turbos.
but most of the times, we have to swap the backplate too for a proper seal. XSP's are using a rubber seal in between to compensate for the lack of precision of their machining while garrett doesn't. a cheaper option is to shave off all xsp markings from the compressor. I got pretty good at it! nobody can tell it's a xsp any more. of course, it doesn't say garrett on it but as you know, some authentic garretts are also unmarked.
