Re:Air filter

you would be a fool if you bought a $500. wideband and ran it in your dailydriver 24/7. it could get stolen if you leave your car parked outside. a a/f gauge can't be used for tunning but it's a good cheap way to see if your car is running on the rich(safe) side or on the lean(blown motor)side.

Re:Air filter

who said anything about having a wideband in your car 24/7?
and not all widebands are $500 now-a-days. Its common knowledge that narrowband isn't gonna tell you anything usefull, so save your hard earned cash.

i guess the light show would be amusing for E-tards.

NNBD: theres a link you can check out about PLX widebands

Re:Air filter

I've never ran a filter on any of my turbos, new or used. Right now my street is covered in dirt and rocks and ---- from the recent rain, but I've never lost a turbo(or a motor)to a rock. I also run without a timing belt cover(upper or lower). Maybe I'm just lucky?

K&N will stop dirt and dust if you use the oil supplied with the cleaning kit.

Re:Air filter

25$ at the autocrap store down the road. And the light show provided by the AF guage is just that...a LIGHT show...in-car widebands with display sell for around 300$ now. The wideband unit is concealed and the display is a wire-lead display. Save your money, if you already spent it, just sell that bad boy on ebay and dont stress the use/need for one.

I used to run a screen, but it was too restrictive ::) no filter for me, she likes dust keeps it from glazing up. 8)

Re:Air filter

the only thing different between using a filter and not using one is the sound. i personally have no room the way my turbo is mounted to get a cone filter on, so right now im using nothing, one i can find a flat filter like a pancake one, then ill use one, but right now i dont care
