AE86 Rotary Turbo

Re: AE86 Rotary Turbo
The install was never documented. We did this like 3yrs ago but for financial reasons or another this guy was unable to keep it insured. If you know your rotary engines the mounts are fairly simple. There are 2 mounting points at the front of the engine on the front cover and one at the bottom of the tranny, basically 4 bolts, so thats one of the reasons why you can basically put a rotary into anything. The car was never put on the track because the original Toyota rear broke within a matter of days so looking for a replacement took a while. The Mustang 8.8 was decided upon and the axles were shortened to accomodate the Corolla. Homemade ladder bars was added for traction and a custom driveshaft was made. As the car stands now (pics are 2 days old) the rear has terrible backlash so the drive train vibrates like crazy in 3rd gear. The motor is totally stock. Some of the emission devices are still in place. The ECU is also stock. This car has been sitting for the better part of a year so hope fully I can convince this guy to get off his @$$ ansd get it together. The car is in NY so I think right now he's looking for someone to take it and sort out all the kinks. We'll see if he makes it on the track.
I'll keep us all updated.
