Thanks man. I think that's the first pic I've seen of the modifications needed to the dsm manifold. I'll make sure to direct people to this thread.

How's the chippping goin? any luck?

Re:Coolers for Turbo Setup

mine looks like that also, but i had mine cleaned up and painted with 1500 degree silver paint to look presentable and not that rusty iron brown color...

all i did was go get a spare gasket for my header, and layed it ontop of the manifold and drilled the holes, well actually "widened" a few of the holes...if you look closely at the last pic the old pic, you can see the gasket laying ontop of the manifold still

http://chicagolandaccordclub.com/pic...20Manifold.JPG
http://chicagolandaccordclub.com/pic...pe-H%20BOV.JPG

ill take new pics once i get all the parts..im not using the 90 degree elbow for the bov anymore, i should sell that

heres an older pic
http://chicagolandaccordclub.com/pic...in%20parts.JPG

as you can see the manifold before, the o2 housing is missing in that picture also...

my btm should be here this week, gotta order the oil lines from stealthmode soon, then get my trans cooler & ngk bkr7e's then it can go in for install

nothing on chipping..still waiting on some parts :( im getting antsy though. got the p06 all ready for a chip.

i should do something with my manifold too...although the rusty cast iron look will fit right in with my engine :P

Re:Coolers for Turbo Setup

If I had show cars like you two guys, I would sandblast the manifolds and go get them ceramic coated. I've often wondered where to go for that.. maybe the pottery class at the local JC can fire the piece for me? Maybe they will coat it for free as a project? Something I need to look into.

Now I know I should look this up and all, but what is the p06 ecu? Did it come off of 90-93 accord 5 speeds?

Nice pics Adam.

i just wanted to make my manifold look decent...its not like id pop my hood for shows...maybe just for the judge when he comes around...but not for the public...

cb7 owners having a turbo discussion without me!?!?!?!? I feel so used :( lol. Anyways i just picked up my p06 yesterday after i got a bad p74 off ebay...i'll go chip it now. Hope to have everything on by this weekend or next since i have ABSOLUTELY every single piece to the puzzle now. And i've spent about $3300 but that includes the laptop and various other things that i don't think should be added in

please keep us updated on the chipping process and share your maps :)

I'm very interested and going to be picking up a 4th gen in a little while.

what are you running that u need a laptop? EMS? list your whole setup brO and pics

Re:Coolers for Turbo Setup

gonna be running ecucontrol on the laptop but more importantly the laptop is for "on the fly" tuning. I'm taking it to the dyno with me to experiment with basemaps. I have 3 basemaps lined up already but only get 3 pulls on the dyno so i'm gonna do 2 pulls and see which one is working best with the a/f ratio then burn a chip at the dyno and run that one as the last dyno pull. I'd rather not list absolutely everything but here's some:
turbonetics t3/t04e stage 3 ceramic BB 50trim .63 a/r
FMIC
2.5" dp to 3" exhaust
tial WG and BOV
uberdata'd p06
ecucontrol
aem fpr
walbro fp
dsm 450cc
cam gear

update...the ------ p0s...excuse me p06 i just bought was said to never be opened but i open it and see a horrible burn mark on one of the transistors so i'll get another tomorrow, no chipping tonight >:( . This is getting annoying!

that sucks midnite. my JDM p06 looks like its in tip top shape. i got everything in but no chip burner yet :-\

Quandie - to answer your question. the p06 came from the 92-95 civic. The accord/prelude ECUs are still a big mystery so as of now no one has been able to chip one >:(

Did you have to swap over the entire wiring harness or did you just plug in the p06 ecu to replace your stock accord ecu? Think the p28 would work as well (they are very easy to find). I would like to plan all this ---- out and then know exactly what I need when I go to pick up an accord.

yup plug and play. most OBD1 ECUs can wire into most OBD1 cars.

lol i just noticed the thread was renamed...acclipse haha

See thats what i like to hear. and i have people doubting i will hit high 14s on 10PSI just because i peiced the kit together and didnt go prefab. i hate ignorant people

Re:The Acclipse (DSM ACCORDS!!)...Trans/Oil Coolers for Turbo Setup

i have ppl asking me why i didn't buy a pre-fab kit instead...ppl see a shiny turbo, big FMIC, and a cool looking exhaust manifold and think thats all u need...they're also the ppl that don't know jack about fuel and engine management. Oh well, let them spend the same $3500 +- i did and see how far it gets them cause their management won't let them go past 8 psi without blowing up. Add exhaust wrap and an UR underdrive pulley to my setup

AznBadAss92LX 06-23-2004 07:22 PM

Re:The Acclipse (DSM ACCORDS!!)...Trans/Oil Coolers for Turbo Setup

even i should be able to make it into 14's with 8psi with my auto wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee

yeh i got some guys breathin down my neck about how its so dinky and shitty....blah blah blah....ok then why do the dsm ppl boost the 14b up to 15-20psi? and still use the smic up to 12psi(ish), so it ain the prettiest kit, but it works! and its faster than your stock f22!

yeah man, I've wanted one for a while, it's really my desired honda vehicle. I like bigger cars and I like the simplicity of them and the reliability.

I'm waiting for these boys to figure out how to chip them, once I see some real support for it then I'm definately going to join the bandwagon. Yes I know other fuel management solutions are avail, but I want this done the right way.. the HMT way. F22 power!

Damn youll are making me wish i hadnt got rid of my 2 prior 4g accords. I had a 90 ex 4dr auto and a 90 4dr dx auto. Now im thinking bout another 2dr manual 4thgen becuase there cheap as ---- and theres a million of them for sale. :P

yeh but they are prob high mileage, you could prob get one for around 2g's and swap a low mileage f22 in for like 4-5 large

id just get another f20 and boost it and you must be ------- crazy if you think it will cost that i could put a type r in my hatch for that. Ive seen f20s and f22s for 400-600 dollars

Re:The Acclipse (DSM ACCORDS!!)...Trans/Oil Coolers for Turbo Setup

I think he ment 4-500 not thousand...sometimes he needs a translator dont mind him. i actually thinkg 4-500 is a bit pricey to be honest. F22s are cheaper than that. if its high milage just rebuild it a little. the F22 block can take a lot of ----...i ran with 1q of oil for about a month on it and its still fine with 200,000 miles on it lol

Im beginning to like this idea even more. I found brand new ported evo ehaust manifolds for 150, The evo 16g will bolt right up and has the potential for 400 or so horsepower. That ---- can be had for cheaper than most custom d and b series manifolds.

Sorry about the wait fellas I've just been a little busy with my buddy's car the last few days now. Here's some pics bitch! ;D

Here's a pic of the part of the "block" you have to grind off to fit the DSM turbo in there. Really not part of the block it's just one of the motor mount taps. BTW I have never had a problem running without a front mount. PS. this grind job was cleaned up after pic.

Here's where the turbo would sit if you just tryied to hook it up to factory downpipe. The downpipe is perect except it needs to be bent towards the driver's side so that the turbo won't sit on top of it (what I did)

Here's how I did the oil lines. The turbo I got came with the lines attached so I cut them and clamped some hose from napa around them. Worked very well and never had a problem with oil leaks.

Here's a pic of my SAFC2 and boost gauge

Also I did the grind job with a angle grinder I bought from walmart then returned it the next day.

quadnie 06-25-2004 04:05 AM

Re:The Acclipse (DSM ACCORDS!!)...Trans/Oil Coolers for Turbo Setup

So you're running factory exhaust? Or just factory downpipe? Any other mounting things you had to perform to get the factory downpipe to bolt up? Did you have to weld a flange on it? Is this setup that perfect that it just pieced right in after bending to the drivers side?

Can you also please explain to us your expiernced with the T25, 14b, and TD04h (I think that was the other one u mentioned??). Inquiring minds want to know.

Good job of using the angle grinder and returning it. I have a couple of them, so if anything I would just keep adding to my overpopulated power tools family. I'm really waiting to see how well these guys do with a chippped setup.

Re:The Acclipse (DSM ACCORDS!!)...Trans/Oil Coolers for Turbo Setup

Since I got my welder I am just waiting until I have some time to weld an exhaust up that I made from some scrap exaust pipes I got from behind a exhaust shop around here ;). I am running a cheap ass axle back exhaust with 3in muffler right now. I am getting a stock rsx muffler next week and welding it up there next week to keep that silent sound. Withe the 3 different turbos I really couldnt say wich one I liked the best. The td04 (eclipse 1st gen auto) had full boost at around 2500 and died of around 6k, it really wasnt a problem because all you had to do was shift a little early and it was cool. A little bad on highway trips (instant boost above 3k even in 5th gear) but it was great for the city. I tried the 14b next (1st gen manual) and it was pretty good. Felt a little sluggish compared to the little guy (tdo4) but was great when I really punched the gas. Full boost (10psi) at aroun 3300 and ran great until redline. The t25 is what I have now and I think it rides the best. It's basically right between the other two. Highway driving is easier to stay out of boost and it runs very good on the streets. I think the td04 really shouldnt be used unless you dont do any highway driving and the t25 drives pretty much like a gst. The 14b is for that person who likes to burn the road up everywhere. Sorry for the long post but I like to be thorough. For the downpipe I cut the factory flange off and flared the pipe and put a steel gasket about 1/4in thick on and bolted it up to the dsm O2 housing.

Re:The Acclipse (DSM ACCORDS!!)...Trans/Oil Coolers for Turbo Setup

Also if anyone needs a map for the whole chipping the I have a couple I got sent to me about 2 weeks ago. One is for the p28 (yes you'll have to replace your ecu and get the p28 chipped) and the other is for the accord ecu.
