Default acceptable warpage on flange?

I have a exhaust manifold with a flange that when bolted down without the gasket has a gap near .020" (20 thou) at one point. My gasket is about .060". Do you think it will seal up alright, or will it most probably leak? I would even it out, but I am running out of flange thickness...

Also, if it IS too big a gap, I have a crazy idea. I have a spare flange and was thinkinf of JB welding the two flanges together to make a big fat flange that I could grind flat... is that a rediculous idea?

You will melt the jb if you epoxy the two flanges together. Take it to a machine shop if you don't have the tools to fix it.

Chances are you will warp the second flange as well, also you need to check clearances with everything else. Not to mention the effort doing that can be better served by dropping by one of ur neighbors or machines shops with a mill.

oh man... its just that the flange is down to 5/16" at some points already...maybe I should just hack it off and weld on a thicker flange....
