Default 91 Nissan Sentra

Hey, my buddy has a 91 Sentra Xe or whatever the lowest model is available and wants to turbocharge it. Yes, I've been trying to do some research on this thing but I can't find much, and was hoping some Nissan guys could help me out here, since I don't know jack squat about nissans.

His engine is the ga16de. Do any of the turbo Nissan motors have anything interchangeable with this engine, as far as turbo manifold and junk like that goes? Is this engine complete junk, or is it kinda like the D series of Nissan?

For fuel management, we'd maybe temporarily be using an AFC Hack, but I really don't want to mess with that. Are there any programs like TurboEdit and Uberdata for Nissans, that are either cheap or free?

Also, any recommended swaps for the car? Even if we get this thing turbo, I know he's going to want more power and will end up either blowing the engine or fudging it beyond repair. Thanks for any/all help guys.

just buy the sr20 bluebird motor from a jdm motor importer. go for around $2000, you have yourself a great base to make good hp, and an ecu that was madef rom the factory to control it

I know JWT can tune Sentra ECU, but they're not cheap http://www.jimwolftechnology.com/cus...asp?PartID=185 as example. There is a link for one already made kit using GT28 on a GA16DE http://www.hotshot.com/hotshotheaders/ns6020turbo.html it can give some ideas to your friend.
I had the same engine few years ago, the good old GA16DE, strong engine though. I was in the same situation, turbo it, nitrous it or engine swap? All I can say is: SR20DET is a PERFECT swap in a B13 Sentra.

I have seen a lot of GA16DE turbo'ed, the block can take around 350whp but i'm not sure about the head, and about tuneing there is a program like turbo edit for Nissan but its for the sr20 line of motor and i'm not sure it will work.

Go to the junkyard and find an SE-R, get the SR20 out of it, boost THAT. Oh yeah, IIRC they have LSD's too

GA16DE can easilly take 350WHP (both block and head). The standard rod and crank are forged which is a bonus to. As far as an ECU editing program goes, there isnt really much available. Have you considered using a standalone such as Megasquirt as Megasquirt is DIY and cheap . There are no interchangable manifolds im afraid to say so you would need to buy a hotshot manifold or build your own. As for turbos the hot shot manifold supports T25 style flanges so T25,T28,GT28RS,GT2871r are all options. Oh yeh, and i forrgot to tell you that you need to use a different MAF sensor as the stock one can hardly even read 5psi or so lol. Most people use KA24DE MAFs and are running 2bar with no problems.

I have one myself - i got injectors etc the hard part is the manifold and turbo

I don't know much about Megasquirt but I'll look into it. 350 whp? Do you have any examples of this? I'll be messaging you. Thanks
